  1. LAN 1001 : English Language Writing Assignment
Assignment : "Explore Sarawak in Half A Day..." Welcome to Sarawak, Land of the Hornbill.

Sarawak is rich in history and heritage. It is also known as Land of The Hornbills. The population comprises of local ethnic groups, Malays, Chinese and Indians living together in harmony for more than a century. Being the largest state in Malaysia, Sarawak covers a vast area of 124,000 sq-km of land along the northwest coast of Borneo, the third largest island in the world. Sarawak offers you a journey of relentless discovery as you travel from city to city and from village to village where you will find, remnants of colonial architectures and in a rich heritage. For me, Sarawak Cultural Village is an interesting place for tourist who comes to Kuching Sarawak. What did you like to know there?

Known as The Living Museum, it is situated about 32 kms from Kuching City. Located at the foot of the legendary Mount Santubong, it covers an area of 14 hectares of tropical rainforest. Sarawak Cultural Village: "See Sarawak in Half a Day" is the claim made by Sarawak Cultural Village, a unique award-winning living museum offering an excellent introduction to local cultures and lifestyles. Since its opening in 1991, it is one of Malaysia's best-known and best-loved visitor attractions and an important showcase for Sarawak's cultures and traditions. It is the perfect place to get introduced to local culture and lifestyle.

On a sprawling 17-acre site just a short walk from the nearby resort hotels, there are replica buildings representing every major ethnic group in Sarawak; Bidayuh, Iban and Orang Ulu longhouses, a Penan jungle settlement, a Melanau tall-house, a Malay town house with adjacent top-spinning court, a Chinese farm House and a Chinese pagoda. All the buildings are staffed with members of the various ethnic groups, in traditional costume, carrying out traditional daily activities the processing of sago and the making of handicrafts. Each building has a "storyteller" who is expert in describing and interpreting traditional cultures and lifestyles, dressed in traditional costume.

After touring the village, you can enjoy a multi-cultural dance performance in the village's own theatre. There is also a good restaurant and a handicrafts shop on-site. Sarawak Cultural Village can also host theme dinners and parties where you can check with your hotel, and you can even get married here, in traditional Iban, Bidayuh, Malay or Orang Ulu style! Admission is RM 45 for adult, for children age 6-12 is RM 22.50, and for those below 6 free. Or you can take a half-day tour from Kuching, including lunch and transport to and from your hotel, RM 60 is adult rate and children are RM 40. Open 9 am - 5 pm daily. The village also has a theatre, where you can enjoy a multicultural dance performance. Dance performances at 11.30 am and 4.00 pm.

Sample the warm hospitality of those who reside at the village and discover the traditional and cultural diversities of the people of Sarawak in just one visit. After your guided tour, enjoy yourself as you will be entertained by the Village's own internationally famous dance troupe, with their most spectacular cultural dance performance at their in-house theatre. You can "see" Sarawak in a day at the Cultural Village. The Cultural Village has won a string of international awards and high praise from travel writers. Nowhere else can you perform an Iban war dance, shoot darts from a blowpipe, drink tuak, the potent rice wine, team Bidayuh bamboo carving, watch Penans making traps, hear Orang Ulu legends or a performance on the sape all in one day.

Whether your stay in Sarawak is long or short, mark the Sarawak Cultural Village as a 'must' on your itinerary.

  2. A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

Malacca is a small, friendly city that with many eye-catching sights and attractive modern establishments. It is easy to go around on foot or trishaw to explore the many places that make Malacca unique. As you explore them, you'll learn about the rich heritage and history that has shaped the landscape and left a mark on Malaysia's cultural lifestyle. In fact, the city is a mix of old and new, historical establishments and old shops stand side-by-side with shopping complexes and modern offices. There are just so many colourful sights in the city, but beyond it, you can also explore other cultural places in the outskirts or engage in recreational activities such as golf and jungle trekking. This would be my introduction for the foreigners as I recommend that Malacca is the definite place to visit.

The first place to visit is Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. Malaysia’s oldest traditional Chinese temple – dating from 1646 – continues to serve the spiritual needs of the Buddhist community in Melaka. Noteworthy due to its carved woodwork, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple is dedicated to Kwan Yin. A robed effigy of the Goddess of Mercy can be found within the main hall and remains the focal point for the entire shrine. Next is Christ Church, the oldest Protestant church in Malaysia – was built in 1753 to commemorate a century of Dutch rule in Malacca. Painted an unusual coral red with a huge white cross in the middle of its façade, this church is one of the most distinguished heritage sites in the city and has undergone some serious architectural changes under the different colonial governments.

Besides, I also would recommend the Maritime Museum & Naval Museum, built in 1990 and housed in a faithful recreation of the Flora de la Mar, a Portugese galleon that sank off the coast of Malacca, the Maritime Museum certainly merits a visit. Scuttle up for an in-depth look into Malacca’s history via old maps, scale-model ships, weaponry and nautical-related accessories and relics. Another interesting place to visit is the Melaka Sultanate Palace is a wooden replica of a Sultan’s palace during the ruling era of Sultan Mansur Shah. Housing a cultural museum, it was built based on description taken from the Malay annals of the original 15th Century palace. Apart from the building’s unique design and ornate woodcarvings, visitors can also marvel at the numerous dioramas portraying the true palace atmosphere of the era.

Porta De Santiago (A’Famosa), although the remains of Porta De Santiago – built by the Portuguese as a fortress in 1511 – are nothing more than a quick photo stop, it is a must for anyone visiting Malacca. The Dutch destroyed most of the fort but Sir Stamford Raffles saved what remains today in 1810. The Romanesque architecture as well as the cool breezes wafting through the ruined walls will make your exploration a pleasant one. Last is the Proclamation of Independence Memorial was built in 1912. Visitors will be able to view a collection of exhibits – displayed in chronological order and divided into several sections – including manuscripts, videotapes and other audio and visual collections which all document Malaysia’s struggle to achieve its independence from the British colonial rule.

In conclusion, Malacca is the historical state of Malaysia, rich with heritage buildings, ancient landmarks and colonial structures. It was here that colonial forces first made contact with Malaysia, which eventually shaped the country into its current economic and political system. Today, in Malacca, you can still see the imprints of British, Dutch and Portuguese forces left behind in forts, museums, churches and towers. Visit Malacca for the cultural experience of a lifetime. That is the reason why I chose Malacca as the preferred place for the foreigners to visit.

  3. A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

Traveling is a good way to find out more about different countries with different traditions and customs. Some travelers prefer to spend in one country just a few days or one day and then leave for another country. This way of traveling allows people to visit more countries in fewer days. Unfortunately, in this case such travelers have to hurry in order to visit more places. I am from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. So, if a foreign visitor has only one day to spend in my country I think I would advice him to visit the "Hermitage" - the most well known and amazing museum in Russia.
The "Hermitage" has 3 floors and more then 100 halls. It is really amazing to visit that place. Many people from all over the world every day enter its walls. Some of the rooms devoted to the history of other countries. Others devoted to the art of a famous painter and the history of his life. However, most of the halls conclude many things such as pai If a foreign visitor has only one day to spend in my country,I will suggest that he or she should relax at hotel. This is because traveling in one day reinforces tiredness and wastes money while relaxing at hotel has everything.

The visitor will be tired ,especially resulted from being in a plane for a long time.Any traveler has to face those boring and small space in the plane. The visitor also has to face new weather with which he or she is not fimiliar. Therefore, it's better to stay somewhere which offers relaxing climate.

Furthurmore, traveling in one day can waste money as everything has to go on quickly. If I reccommend the visitor to some place, there will always be another interesting thing to explore nearby. But as the visitor has a very limited time, the visitor cannot see something else which may be beneficial to him or her.For example, if the visitor go to the temple that I reccommend, the visitor may not has enough time to explore a very cheap local market located near that temple.

Staying at hotel does not mean that the visitor cannot get a sense of traveling. There are many shops located in hotels. These shops always collect interesting local products to serve tourists. The visitor can also eat local food and watch T.V. programs about local traveling sites which are in almost every restaurants.

While I realize that there are many places which are wonderful for tourist, one day is not enough for anyone to earn maximum benefits from traveling. Therefore, I reccomend that the visitor should stay at hotel. ntings, royal belongings, sculptures from Russian history.

Some people say that it is impossible to feel deeply and see all these amazing historical values for one visit. I have to completely agree with this statement. When I first visited the "Hermitage" I was 14 years old. It impressed me so much that I was back next day to see what I had not been able to see the day before. The "Hermitage" is an impressive and beautiful museum. I think it is worth to spend there a whole day and I believe that after that a foreign visitor can claim with a proud that he or she saw Russia eventhough it not my own country

  5. The nice place to visit.

For the visitor I would like to suggest they to go to Pahang the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia, is also home to Tioman, an enchanting island in the South China Sea. The state is blessed with a beautiful coastline, which offers endless tropical bliss for sun-seekers.
About 36 nautical miles off Malaysia's east coast lay Pulau Tioman, or Tioman Island a tear-shape paradise. An enduring and tranquil island, Tioman Island boasts miles and miles of white sandy beaches and swaying palm trees, charming villages and friendly people. Its crystal clear water promise spectacular marine life and colourful coral gardens. The striking profile of the twin peaks of Gunung Nenek Semukut provides a markable landmark to this beautiful island reputed to be one of the most beautiful and idyllic islands in the world.
According to legend, Tioman was a resting place for a magical dragon princess. It was said that on her way from China to visit her prince in Singapore, this beautiful maiden stopped by at Tioman Island to seek solace. She however, fell in love with the charm and beauty of this alluring island and decided to forsake her happiness by discontinuing her journey. Instead, she vowed to spend the rest of her days giving pleasures and comfort to weary travellers.
Tioman Island, the largest in a group of 64 volcanic islands which includes Seri Buat Island, Sembilang Island, Tulai Island, Chebeh Island, Labas Island and Renggis Island, is situated about 80km northwest of Peninsular Malaysia's east coast. Said to be the final resting place of a fabled dragon princess who had turned herself into an island in the South China Sea, Tioman Island is truly one of the most beautiful islands in the region.
Blessed with miles of soft white sand, swaying palms, wild flowers growing in vivid profusion and cool waterfalls cascading down green slopes, Tioman Island is an adventurer's paradise for quiet retreats, trekking, sunbathing and sea sports. Noted for crystal clear water as far down as 33 metres, Tioman Island is a veritable green of colorful marine life, offering underwater sportsmen some of the best dive sites in the world.
There are several villages scattered around the island's coastline, the larger ones being Salang, Tekek, Genting, Paya and Juara. Each village offers a different atmosphere and will be a unique experience to enjoy.

Tioman Island is a fantastic water sports haven. Here you can indulge in scuba diving, deep sea fishing, snorkelling, boating, waterskiing and windsurfing. It is truly a wonderful playground for lovers of these sports. Another attraction is, of course, a ride in a glass-bottomed boat around the island. 7. Question 16
If a foreign visitor has only one day to spend in my country,I will suggest that he or she should relax at hotel. This is because traveling in one day reinforces tiredness and wastes money while relaxing at hotel has everything.

The visitor will be tired, especially resulted from being in a plane for a long time.Any traveler has to face those boring and small space in the plane. The visitor also has to face new weather with which he or she is not fimiliar. Therefore, it's better to stay somewhere which offers relaxing climate. However, I will suggest that the most places in Malaysian are Malacca.
Malacca is situated on the west coast, three hundreds and sixty miles south of Penang and one hundred and sixty miles from our neighbour country, Singapore. As the oldest town in this multiracial motherland, Malaysia, its history is recorded in its many buildings, fortresses and other structures. One of its popular historical buildings is Francis Xavier’s Church, a gothic architecture built in 1949. Francis Xavier was a great missionary and also a teacher who lived in Malacca during the Portuguese regime. The tomb of this great missionary is at St. John’s Will.
Town Hall is the oldest hall in Malacca. This sixtieth century building is reported to be the oldest Dutch building in the Far East. At present, government offices and a museum are housed in the hall. It is reminiscent of mediaeval architecture and painting. Besides, there is also a temple named Cheng Hoon Teng which is recorded to be the oldest temple in Malaya. This place of worship for Buddhists looks very serene with ancient Chinese Gods.

Another crystal clear reason the makes Malacca is a place of national importance to Malaysia is because of its harbour. In the ancient times, the harbour was suitable for many large ships form western and eastern countries all over the world. However, today, the harbour cannot be used for large ships as it does not have proper accommodation. As an alternative, there is plenty of good fishing and what is more interesting; there is fine basket-making as one of the sources of economy for Malacca state in these recent times.
Malacca is where the largest Chinese cemetery outside of China is made. It is known as Bukit China and is located in several rolling hills on the outskirts of Malacca. Some of the graves date as far back as the Ming Dynasty. Other than above mentioned historical places in Malacca, there is also A-Famosa or The Porta de Santiago which was built by Portuguese in 1511, Stadthuys that is a Dutch wooden architecture and Christ Church which is also a Dutch architecture. The replica of The Malacca Sultanate Palace is situated at the foot of St. Paul’s Hill and this wooden building is based on the description from the Malay Annals. At these days, this gothic building houses the Malacca Cultural Museum.
In conclusion, Malacca is the best place that has more historical in our country. This is chance to promote our country and show that Malacca is the best places and more comfortable in holiday.

  8. 16. A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

Cameron Highlands is one of Malaysia's most popular holiday destinations, situated high above the clouds on a nest of serene mountains. Located in the centre of a vast mountain range that cuts across Peninsular Malaysia, the Cameron Highlands offer visitors a chance to spend their vacation in the cool of the highlands, where lush landscapes and peaceful sceneries abound in this green environment. Cameron Highlands located on the north-western of Pahang state is a well-known hill resort sprawled on the beautifully landscaped garden and majestic mountains. Perhaps, the hill is most famous for plenty of its vegetables and fruit farms.
Tourists and visitors to Cameron Highlands have a wide range of places to go and explore that will provide strangely satisfying memories. For local visitors, the attractions lie in the opportunity to experience continental living in the places they visit, while for international tourists, the charm of Cameron Highlands may come more from the nature heritage and serene environment as well as the rustic living of a highland town.
Tea plantations carpet the surrounding valleys in a fine layer of yellow green tea leaves, and most of them are open to tourists and visitors who can purchase their own tea bags, watch workers pluck tea as well as enjoy a simmering hot cup of tea with scones. Tea was the reason William Cameron saw potential and founded this valley, which eventually became Malaysia's top highland holiday destination. Tourists and visitors have a wide choice of tea plantations, with entrances and signboards jostling for attention all the way from Ringlet to the Blue Valley.
The Bee Farms in Cameron Highlands allow visitors and tourists to see how honey is cultivated here from bees on a moderate scale. The delicious nectar is harvested from the combs made by bees that are housed in an elevated wooden box. A small shop that retails the honey harvested from the farm. The honey, processed into different types of products, is packaged in bottles, jars and boxes, making it a good buy if you're into wholesome organic products. You can also visit another bee farm near Branchang before Tringkap, a short drive down away from the Butterfly Garden.
As a conclusion, Cameron highland is a part from the cool weather; key attractions in Cameron Highlands include a butterfly farm, strawberry farms, rose gardens and vegetable gardens. Cameron Highlands is the perfect, cool mountain hideaway distant from all the frantic rush of city life. Blessed with perpetual springtime, it abounds with lush and colourful flora, providing an excellent and serene atmosphere for both business and pleasure. So, I suggest to a foreign visitor to visit Cameron Highland.

  9. A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

Terengganu Darul Iman. Situated on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Terengganu is an ideal holiday getaway. It has the longest coastline in the country, with stunningly beautiful islands that sparkle like gems in the South China Sea. Many are gazetted as Marine Parks. The state is characterized by a strong Malay culture, laid-back lifestyle, tranquil coastal towns and rustic villages. Traditional pursuits such as kite-flying and top-spinning are highlights here. Kuala Terengganu is capital city. For me, Terengganu is nice place to visit who come to Malaysia.

Pasar Payang is the most interesting place to visit for foreign visitor. This is double storey market houses all kind of goods that we are can find. It’s very special market because what are you name it, you get it. The lower level of this building is a wet market. The visitor can find fresh seafood or preserved sea products such as ikan bilis, salted fish and dried cuttlefish. The vegetable also sold in the middle. Keropok or crackers made from fish or prawn is a favourite cracker here. At the upstairs, the business of “songket”,” kain batik” and scarf is very popular and the visitor can buy for self or as a souvenir for friends.

Tengku Tengah Zahara Mosque or more commonly called Floating Mosque. This is due to unique design which is build on a floating feel from far away. The mosque is built on the estuary of Terengganu state. Combining both modern and Moorish architecture design, the mosque symbolizes the innovation and modernization in the state. The ideal time to visit this mosque in the evening, when the evening sun shines on the mosque, turning the building into golden color while the cooling breeze blow from the South China sea. The muslim’s visitor can praying and take a beautiful photo for the remembrance.

On the eastern side of Kuala Terengganu is Pantai Batu Buruk. There are pine trees lining up behind the shore, like a loyal friend to the waves. During windy days, playing kite on the beach is a good idea. Apart from being the venue for the annual Beach Festival and food stall, though sand is not as fine as on the islands, Pantai Buruk is also a popular place for strolling and swimming and good place to visit especially in the evening. This beautiful beach is just 1 km from the city center and can be reached by walking. Perhaps this is the cleanest and widest beach inside Kuala Terengganu city.

To increase the knowledge and who’s is interested for green turtle, Turtle Information Centre can serve to it. A Turtle Information Centre managed by the Department of Fisheries at Rantau Abang and rangers can be seen patrolling the beaches to ensure safety for the turtles when they come onto shore to lay their eggs. Apart from information on turtles, the visitor will be able to see many exotic and nice sea shells that are on displayed at the main exhibition hall.

So, comes and visit to Terengganu. A foreign visitor which is has only one day to spend a time for visiting, the Terengganu state is suitable. They are can enjoy with harmony environment, can release the tension at beautiful beach and can do the window shopping because Terengganu is rich with handicraft and silk weaving. For my suggestion, the Terengganu is the best place and why not a foreign visitor is to try coming here?

  10. As we known langkawi island which consists 99 island around it is the most popular tourism destiny to visit in malaysia. This legendary island is located in kadah north west of penisular malaysia.
What makes langkawi so popular? Its nothing least without its legend that surrounds it for example legands such as beautiful maiden falsely accused, lagend of warious warious, and much. A popular local myth of Langkawi is a tale about a petty maiden named Mahsuri who lived some 200 years ago.
Makam Mahsuri is undoubtedly a major attraction not to be missed in Langkawi. The mausoleum is built after the death of Mahsuri binti Pandak Mayah – who is an ordinary lady who was said to have a great influence on the fate on Langkawi. The incident started with Mahsuri’s beauty and ended with a curse on the island.
Mahsuri, with an attractive appearance and pleasant personalities had dragged the attention of many people in the village and nearby area. At that time, the Chieftain had an intention to marry her but was unable to do. Later, Mahsuri married the Chieftain’s brother – Mat Darus. However, her blissful marriage did not lastlong as her beauty had caused many to be jeolous of her.
Her sister-in-law, the Chieftain’s wife was jealous of Mahsuri and coincidentally, she saw Mahsuri greeted a man by the name of Deramang. She then took the chance to accuse her of being unfaithful by having an affair with other man. In 1819, Mahsuri was being sentenced to death without any trial. Using a spear, her Chieftain brother–in-law executed her. To prove her innocence, it was believed that Mahsuri bled white blood and she laid a curse on Langkawi, saying that the island will remain barren and unfortunate for the next 7 generations. So i think i would bring the foreign visitors there because i found it would be interesting and legendary.
tasik Dayang Bunting or The Lake Of The Pregnant Maiden as it is better known, is the largest lake in Langkawi. Located on the beautiful and wild island of Pualu Dayang Bunting, Tasik Dayang Bunting is believed by the natives to be guarded by a white crocodile that bestows good luck on those entering its waters.
Dayang Bunting Island is believed to have been the scene of a celestial love story. It is here that Mat Teja, sorcerous genie was ensnared by the charms of Mambang Sari, a faerie princess. To win her affection, Mat Teja procured mermaid's tears and smeared them on his face on the advice of a wise man, Tok Diang. A sweet romance ensued and Mambang Sari was soon with child. However, the ill fated child did not survive the first week of his birth. Distraught at the loss of her son, Mambang Sari entrusted the waters of Tasik Dayang Bunting with the corpse of the child and returned to her celestial abode. The corpse turned into a white crocodile, still resides in the waters and appears to those who are upright and pious, goes the legend.
Mambang Sari, claims the legend, also blessed the lake with divine powers and any childless woman drinking in water from this reservoir shall soon be blessed with progeny. Though this fact is not scientifically proved, many women visit the island only to take a sip of these waters.
To sum up i would bring the foreign visitor to langkawi so that they could learn about culture and its a tax free place also to shop so its the best place to visit.

A fascinating fusion of the East and West, Penang embraces modernity while retaining its traditions and old world charm. For example, if the visitor go to the temple that I recommend, the visitor may not has enough time to explore a very cheap local market located near that temple.

Therefore, I recommends that the visitor should stay at hotel.

  13. Travelling is a good activity to those who like adventure. From that, we also can gain the experience and knowledge about the particular country’s history. It is also a good way to find out more about different traditions and customs from different countries. Some of the tourists like to visit more countries in a short period and some of them like to use up the whole holiday in a particular place. If a visitor has only one day to spend in my country which is Malaysia, I was more prefer introduce one place which is Melaka.
To me, the main purpose of travelling to one’s country is to relax and have fun or moreover is to gain knowledge. As the old people said, travel is better way than to read. I think the best place to those who like historical place is Melaka's Sultanate Palace. It was built in the year of 1984 and became the cultural museum. It is a replica of the Melaka Sultan’s Palace during the period of the Melaka Sultanate which is located at the foot of St. Paul’s Hill. The Melaka’s Sultanate Palace or the replica is exactly built from information and data obtain from the Malay Annals. The building is made of hardwood while the roof is made of 'belian' wood. The special feature of the building is that no nails were used in the construction of the building, only wooden pegs.
Besides that, the tourist who like to discover and adventure can try go to D’ Paradise Melaka which located in Brisu, Malacca. It is an eco-agro tourism spot and the most attractive part is Tropical Fruit World and Aboriginal Native Village. At Tropical Fruit World, it is one of the world’s largest collections of tropical fruit. Tourist can widen their view by discover 800 types of species in more than 168 acres of Orchard Garden which took more than 5 years of preparation. However, visitors are allowing to picking the fruits depend on the season. As we know, the Malaysia has many ethnic aboriginal native and the park is aim of “back to nature”. The native village design sitting on a 20 acres area. So, the tourist can see how the aboriginal natives live, play and work. In addition, the aboriginal native will use surrounding natural material resources to make the antique handicrafts or else the tourist who like adventure can learn from them by hunting with blow-pipes or join them jungle trekking.
Last, Melaka is a food paradise. It includes all races’ traditional food. The tourist can find out anywhere. It is suitable to who like to search for delicious food. The Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball is a Malaccan Specialty compared to other state or even other country. It is because the rice are making into rice balls and cooked with several flavoured like ginger, garlic and shallot. Second, a must to eat is Icy Delights like Cendol. The Cendol are divided into two types which are Traditional Nyonya and Indian style Cendol. The different between two Cendol are one is made from homemade jade- green jelly that is absolutely creamy and the another is typically pale green with mashed red bean and not creamy as the Nyonya Cendol.
To sum up, my beloved country which is Malaysia is the best country to travel for and also the tourist can get a different feeling and experience. As a citizen, we must take a chance to visit and introduce the historical places such as Melaka as well to our friend at overseas. Thus, it also helps to promote our country to the international stage as well as to increase the tourism income of Malaysia.

  14. Question 16
A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
The very first thing that would strike a visitor to Malaysia is that it is a multi-racial country. My friends from overseas all agree without doubt that we live in relative racial harmony. Our tolerance of others of different races and religions makes us unique in the world. We do not have segregation of whites from blacks. Granted we are still not perfectly integrated but we live in far, far better conditions than many other countries.
Malaysia is very lucky in that we do not have huge natural disasters. Beside the annual floods that may take some lives, we do not have things like volcanoes and hurricanes that can cause real damage. We do not get droughts and famines. Our land is fertile all over. We can grow almost anything here. Our freedom from such disasters makes us unique indeed.
In every town that one can go to, there is always the ubiquitous “glutton square” where people go to eat. In these places where food stalls are set up, one can eat almost anything that one desires. The only limitation is the stomach, how much of good food can one take at one go? There are so many things available at prices that are very reasonable. There are food and more food everywhere. There are also drinks, drinks and more drinks available to satisfy your fancy. Nowhere else in this world can one have a unique glass of “air batu campur” to go with a delicious plate of “rojak”. Where else can we get a plate of chicken rice to go with a cool glass of freshly prepared sugar-cane water? Where else can we sit and watch the throngs of people come and fill their bellies. No wonder we have so many pot-bellied people here. The food is simply incomparable.
Over the past few years, another unique Malaysian phenomenon has sprung up. This is the night market or “pasar malam” as it is popularly known. At one of these “pasar malam’s” one can see dozen of vans all parked within a small area. The sight of these numerous vans would gladden the hearts of Japanese van manufacturers. These vans carry a variety of goods and when night falls the goods are displayed prominently beside the vans for the crowds that come to see and buy. It is quite a unique experience to go into one of these “pasar malam’s” and simply wander around looking at the immense variety of things that are sold there. Under the glare of fluorescent lamps, one can get almost anything from a simple cheap wallet to an expensive original painting by a local artist. If one is not thinking of buying anything, there is always the educational trip to seeing how people of many races can come together side-by-side and engage in the common activity of buying and selling. This is indeed a unique feature of my country.
What else are unique? There are many things. Our festivals are celebrate by everyone regardless their ethnic origins. We visit one another on Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and other occasions. We may find a group of Chinese conversing in Bahasa Malaysia or an Indian bickering with a hawker in Cantonese. A Malay man writes letters in Tamil for his illiterate Tamil neighbours and a Punjabi reads the Bahasa Malaysia news for us on television. We are simply a fantastic set of human beings living in a fantastic country.
So what does the future hold for us? I would imagine even more fantastic thing only if we continue to exercise tolerance and understanding. There are number of religious bigots and racialists but genuine peace-loving Malaysians far outnumber these extremists. We can live happily in this unique country of ours.

  15. Malaysia is a country with an interesting people and many range of attraction. It is three major races, Malay, Chinese and Indians, along with the ethnic traditions of the KadazanDusun, Iban and many more in East Malaysia make up the delightful multicultural fabric of Malaysia. In Malaysia, visitors will discover a wide range of customs and practices. Some of these customs may be different than what is practiced in other parts of the world. If the foreign visitors has only one day to spend in our country, I will suggest them to visit the Kelantan.
Kelantan is famed for its unique cultural diversity, while sandy beaches, waterfalls and lush tropical jungle. In Kelantan, the foreign visitor can see the traditional games such as kite flying which is “Wau Bulan”, puppet shadow play and kicking the feather ball. Other than that, the most interesting things that I can say is Kelantan which is handicraft such as Batik Painting, Songket, Wood’s Carve and Bamboo handicraft. The foreign visitor can buy a handicraft as a souvenir for their relative.
It is one day in Kelantan; I would bring the visitors to the Handicraft Village. It is set within a beautiful village setting, the complex houses a Craft Museum known as Balai Getam Guri, craft shops, tourism offices and a restaurant nearby. Performance and demonstration are held from time to time at the courtyard. The visitors can buy unique souvenirs and handicrafts at the shops or take in lovely views of its immaculately landscaped garden. A trip to Kelantan will be incomplete without taking time to enjoy the many cultural performances, passionately and skilfully presented by the locals.
The other interesting place is in Cultural Centre. It is locally known as Gelanggang Seni. It is the centre for the development of culture in Kelantan. The Cultural Centre is a veritable showcase of the state’s rich cultural heritage. All cultural performances are held here daily. This is the hub of all of Kelantan’s cultural activities, where the spinning tops the size of a human head twirl effortlessly; giant coloured kites soar in the air, and wayang kulit (shadow play) and rebana ubi (drums) thump to the rhythm of life. Indeed, this is the only place in Kelantan where we can also watch other traditional performances like the Traditional music and Art of Self Defence.
Dining in Kelantan will be an interesting experience. There is a delightful assortment of lip-smacking local fare. Among the best sample local food, I will bring the visitor to Siti Khadijah Market and Handicraft Village. They must try the traditional food and they will not forget the taste such Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang, Solok Lada, Budu, Ayam Percik and Ketupat Sotong. Other than that, Jala Mas and Buah Tanjong is very popular cake or ‘kuih’ in Kelantan. It is known as a Royal Cake and can be found in this state.
Kelantan is a charming destination steeped in culture and heritage. One day in Kelantan will show the culture and heritage that we have in Malaysia. I am sure that the visitors will enjoy every moment that they have in Kelantan.

  16. QUESTION 16
It wasn’t awful! There are bits and pieces that are quite good, but it didn’t give us the impression of a proper tourist destination – more somewhere that had moved on from being popular with tourists and had its sights focussed elsewhere now. Perhaps we were just not Penang Tourism’s target market. We were impressed by Rapid Penang – with two small kids, the reliable, clean, cool, inexpensive buses with their cheerful, helpful drivers were marvellous. The ‘frequency’ schedule was great for us on holiday, but I guess it might not be ideal if you’re commuting to work.
I really enjoyed the old places where we ate between the newer buildings . The old place between Tune Hotel and the new Food Court was the kind of thing I expected. Eating at the pasar malam on Gurney Drive was good too, but crossing the road outside was a bit of a nightmare. I don’t mind eating at Starbucks or Old Town when I’m at Jaya Jusco or the airport, but it’s not what I go on holiday for. The laksa (with no plastic chairs, tables, bowls nor utensils!) near the T-junction below Kek Lok Si (so many elderly beggars) Temple was superb. We saw too many temples – perhaps a poor choice on our part.
Street signage was something we appreciated. It makes a huge difference when you’re trying to find your own way between the attractions that you can easily find out where you are. I think Penang Tourism could do themselves and Penang a big favour if they just got out their sun-hats and string bags for a week and attempted to walk around Penang as a tourist would, and try not to keep a friend in a car waiting near the kerb – as a tourist can’t.
On the subject of whose fault it is, I honestly think Penang should be honest with tourists and rather than just provide a glossy list of attractions, some of which are shut or were photographed and described in what I can only imagine were better days, actually say that some places are either ‘undergoing repair’ or are ‘earmarked for badly needed restoration’ or such similar phrases whose real meaning will not be lost on visitors.
I think it would be interesting for tourists to see a comprehensive plan for Penang tourism that includes not only the highlights, but also those areas where planned improvements might make a return visit more likely. If a comparison helps (and I know I’ve only made short visits to these two), while I’m in no hurry to return to Penang, I’m looking forward to a second visit to Melaka. Melaka seems like a much smaller destination than Penang, but I found it much more amenable to me as a tourist – I think the large pedestrian areas may have made all the difference

  21. A Malaysian surely wants to promote their hometown to others. For me, I will suggest the place where I live that is Pahang. I am sure that the foreigners will have the best experience visiting Pahang because there are many places to visit.

Pahang is the third largest state in Malaysia and it is the largest state in Peninsula Malaysia. Mention Pahang and conjures up visions of lush tropical forests, cool mountain air, endless sandy beaches glistering in the sun, lakes and waterfalls nesting in the arms of mountain crevices plus everything else that spells a resort to nature. Pahang is in fact all these and much more.

I will recommend the visitor to visit the state's famous hill resorts, its internationally known islands and beaches, or Taman Negara, the Peninsula's finest park. Each of these attractions is substantial enough to merit special attention in our pages. Pahang's other attractions, though less well known, should not be missed by anyone visiting the state
The natural heart of Pahang is unquestionably Taman Negara, Malaysia's oldest national park, lovingly referred to as "The Green Heart." There is also the peninsula's highest point; the forest encrusted Gunung Tahan, within the park. Also in the interior are many of Malaysia's hill stations, mountain resorts where the tropical heat is kept at bay by the altitude. On the coast of Pahang, the jungle gives way to clean, palm-lined beaches, fishing villages, and the multicultural state capital, Kuantan.

Another compulsory place to go is Cameron Highlands. Cameron Highlands is Malaysia's largest and best-known hill resort. Discovered by, and named after William Cameron, a government surveyor who, in 1885 explored the area by hacking a path up through dense jungle and came across, "A fine plateau shut in by mountains". At 1524m above sea level the area enjoys a cool climate, with temperatures no higher than 20°C and rarely falling below 10°C, a welcome change to the generally oppressive heat and humidity at sea level.

Without doubt the most interesting part of a visit to the resort is its tea plantations, the first of which were established in 1929 by John Archibald Russell and belong to the most famous Malaysian tea producer, Boh Tea. The estates are wonderfully manicured and visitors are welcome to view the factory production process and enjoy a cup of tea at the teashop. Other interesting places to visit include the numerous vegetable farms dotted all around the area. There are also strawberry farms, flower nurseries, and also butterfly farms.

Thus, it is undeniable fact that Pahang is a very interesting place to visit. It is the place that not to be missed especially by the foreign visitor.

  22. Kuala Lumpur has plenty to offer in terms of sights and shopping. Not to be missed is the Petronas Twin Towers at the heart of the city, one of the modern marvels of the world. The Towers are called Menara (Malay for "tower") 1 and 2, and until October 2003, they were the tallest buildings in the world. The towers are connected at the 41 and 42 level by a Skybridge. This is open to visitors on Tuesdays to Sundays from 8.30am to 5pm. At the foot of the towers, there is the superb KLCC shopping mall, offering brand-name items, superb eateries and several attractions such as the Petrosains Discovery Centre and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) is easily accessible by taxi and the Light Rapid Transit train system. It is also within walking distance of major city hotels. ... .
Kuala Lumpur is also a shoppers' haven. The Central Market is a huge centre with restaurants and a good place to shop for curios and handicraft items. If your timing is right visit the Sunday Market (it usually opens from Saturday night until the wee hours of Sunday morning). When tourist arrived there, they will find out full of Malaysian culture, and it could probably get some Malaysia history through the handicraft items. Other shopping opportunities are Lot 10 (upmarket branded goods); KL Plaza; Sungai Wang Plaza; Imbi Plaza and Low Yat Plaza (computer and electronic goods); and Berjaya Times Squares (upmarket, too). All located in the so-called Golden Triangle of KL. Slightly out of town is the Mid-Valley Megamall. In the Petaling Jaya area, place to shopping are 1Utama, Sunway Piramid, and IOI Mall Puchong. There is great of city life as a lot of variety in Kuala Lumpur.
The most popular day trip from Kuala Lumpur is to the limestone Batu Caves. It lies a short distance north of town and the main cave has to be accessed by climbing up 272 stairs. Hindu devotees perform annual pilgrimages during the festival of Thaipusam by putting on kavadis and climbing these steps to the temple inside the main cave. Besides that, if you want to get around the forest enviroment. There is a place called Rawang which about 40 KM away from Kuala Lumpur City. Temple Park is one of the well-known place for local and tourist. Temple Park has covered by forest environment and there is a water falls within it. So, usually those who wants to reduce stress and had a family day, Temple Park is quite good for them.
About 45 minutes away from the heart of the city is Genting Highlands, practically a city in itself. Billed as the City of Entertainment, it boasts a family-oriented theme park, internationally-billed shows and live performances, a golf course, an equestrian course, and the country's only licensed casino. The highlands resort offers low-cost but very comfortable bus services at frequent intervals from several main destinations in KL. The buses travel up to a cable-car station midway and visitors continue their journey on what Genting claims to be the fastest cable-car in the region.

Penang is extremely multi-cultural and visitors will find a number of different districts here, each offering different aspects and attracts. This area is perhaps one of the main draws in Georgetown as it has sites that date back to the British settlement in 1786. Fort Cornwallis is where Francis Light stepped ashore and a good place to start exploring the colonial district.
Penang is a popular Asian destination and whilst not the cheapest it does offer a good selection of accommodations to suit all budgets and tastes. One of the most popular places to stay is of course the beach and Batu Feringghi which has many beach resorts right on the sands which offer food and nightlife attractions .
Although good value for money more budget locations are located in Georgetown. Here on the famous streets of Chulia and Muntri there are many to choose from. Guest houses which will be familiar to the Asian traveler offer rooms and dormitories some with separate or, the more usual, shared bathrooms. Some will offer only cold water and it is worth trying as a cold water shower becomes more refreshing after you get used to it and as the cold water closes the pores keeps you drier in a hot climate.
Penang and food, perhaps these two words don’t mean much to you but they certainly mean a lot to a real gourmet as Penang has been regarded as the food capital of Malaysia for ages. The amount of food is literally bombarding you while you are taking a walk along the most famous Lebuh Chulia (Chulia street, George town), where on each side of the street there is nothing but restaurants in the amount that your imagination would struggle to make up.
There are two great things that you will be astounded to know about Penang food, first is that the quality of food is flawless and the second nice thing is its variety, including cooking styles. Actually Penang is always referred to as a Mecca for food lovers when people talk about Malaysia. The most popular is actually goes to ‘Nasi Kandar’.
Whether you are craving for something really exotic or just dreaming about making your belly as happy as it can possibly be Penang will do the job no matter what. Another great thing to know about dining in Penang is, whether it is a really fancy restaurant or just a little food stall on the side of the street it will cost you absolutely nothing to have a brilliant meal.
Since eating out in Penang is considered as the most favorite pastime you would certainly guess that most of the places are open 24 hours and they are. Local spices as well as imported are truly impossible to resist. A lot of tourists can end up eating even when they are not hungry, while just passing a little restaurant, simply a scent of local cuisine may drag you in for a while.Just a short walk from the popular backpacker area of Chula Street is the Esplanade. This is a good place to wander as the fresh sea breezes here are refreshing in the heat of the day and there are a number of interesting attractions to discover.
The beach itself is quite good, thought not up there with Malaysia's best and the water is not of the tropically clear variety you might expect. The beach is kept clean, even on weekends when hordes of day-trippers visit. Batu Ferringhi has the drawbacks of a large resort, it can be crowded and much of the greenery has been replaced by concrete.
As to be concluding, by spending their time in Penang, it will be full of memories, fun and will be stick in their mind, everlasting. Penang is awesome. It’s true.

  26. If a foreign visitor come and asks me about where is the most suitable place to be visit in Malaysia, I would confidently suggest Malacca. This is because, if a foreign visitor comes to a country, he or she might seek for the uniqueness of that particular place and need scenery that can portrayed the wholesome picture or story about a country. For this reasons, I feel that Malacca is the best choice. As we know, this state is known as a place which is rich in history and unique culture. It is strategically located between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur bordering Negeri Sembilan and Johor. It is also less than an hour from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
There places that can be visit by the foreigner whey they reach to Malacca. One the famous place to be visit are the historical Stadthuys Complex and A' Famosa Porta De Santiago. These two remarkable buildings show that a part of Malaysia has been one of the busiest and important places in the world long time ago during the Dutch and Portuguese era in Malacca. These antique buildings also explain on why does the Malaysians are mixed up with many kinds of races and believes.
The other interesting place that must be visit in Melacca is Kampung Kling Mosque and Cheng Hoon Teng’s Temple. This two prayer place represent two of the mode believes in Malaysia which is Malay and Chinese. The uniqueness of the stated mosque is by aspect of its architectural building designs. This amazing Sumatran architecture is one of the oldest mosques in the country, but is still well intact and preserved. Unlike other typical domes in other mosques, the Kampung Kling Mosque has a three-tiered roof shaped like a pyramid. Shaped like a Pagoda, the Moorish styled minaret is a true display of East-West architectural influences. On the other hand Cheng Hoon Teng’s Temple has been a symbol of glory of the local Chinese. It has been pillar to the moulding of the Chinese spirit and beliefs. Today, foreign and local tourists alike gather here to bear witness to this historical monument and its awe-spiring wooden sculptures.
Baba & Nyonya Herigate Museum also can be interesting to those who like to know about the existences of additional population in Malaysia. This population stories the effects of imported workers during the war long time back. Tourist might also have the chances to meet with the uniqueness of this mixed culture life and the aesthetic value left till now which is kebaya-nyonya.
The last place to note is china town which located along Malacca River. This town provides tourist with a ride by water taxi from Spice Park in Pengkalan Rama to the rivermouth near the Eye On Malaysia in Kota Laksamana. While this boat rides, tourist can see the shopping centres that available in Malacca and the old building that was preserved for the foreigner to see.
With the places and reasons stated, I believed that Malacca state is the best choice for one day visit to Malaysia. This is because, Malacca can give the precious wholesome picture of Malaysia that no other state and place does.

  27. Question 16
A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
Travelling is a good for experience and we can know more about other places. In Malaysia have many places that we can go, especially in Johor Bahru. We can bring other visitor such as people from other country to visit in Malaysia country. In a foreign visitor has only one day to spend in our country, I choose that in Kota Tinggi Johor. Because of that they can know about a legend and history all the year of the past present.
In Kota Tinggi Johor which is a Kampung Makam have a story about the tomb's legend is found in 1699, Sultan Mahmud Shah, pirates were storming the shores of southern Johor, from Mersing to Pulau Penyengat and Riau. He left behind his beloved wife, Dang Anum, who was heavily pregnant, while he went to stop the pirate attacks. His absence presented an opportunity to a former palace officer, who was jealous of Megat Seri Rama, to plot against him. Wan Anum eagerly craved a piece of jackfruit, taken from the palace orchard, that was on its way to be presented to the Sultan. The penghulu or the head of a sub-district, who was sending the fruit to the palace sympathized with Dang Anum. He stole a piece of jackfruit and gave it to Dang Anum.
The Sultan, who noticed that the fruit had been cut, before he tasted the fruit, was so angered with the penghulu's action. His thoughts were also poisoned by the jealous palace officer who said that Dang Anum's action had obviously brought shame to the Sultan, leaving the Sultan to eat the rest of the fruit after her. The sultan ordered the women to the palace for punishment. Desperate for her life and the child she bore in her belly, Dang Anum told the sultan that the fruit that she ate was for her child. The Sultan asked for proof and the woman's belly was cut, and the child was seen with the piece of the jackfruit.

The murder was kept secret to all the palace inhabitants. Laksamana Megat Seri Rama discovered the murder of his wife and child when he returned from the war. He decided to seek revenge. On one Friday afternoon, during the Friday prayers, while the Sultan was lifted up (julang) by his men, he was ambushed and stabbed to death by the Laksamana. Before he drew his last breath, he cast a curse which forbade the sons of Bintan to touch the grounds of Kota Tinggi for eternity. If not, all of them will vomit blood to death. The Laksamana died as well as the sultan. Sultan Mahmud Syah, known then as Sultan Mahmud Mangkat Dijulang, was buried in Kampung Makam, Kota Tinggi, while Laksamana Megat Seri Rama at Kampung Kelantan, also in Kota Tinggi. To this day, people still believe that the curse still exists and most Bintanese still feared to come to Kota Tinggi. Other versions of this story state that the curse lasts merely seven generations.
In a conclusion, we as a generation on this country should know about the history and we should share with other people especially on visitor. So they can know about the information and they can share with their people.

  29. Firstly, I feel very proud because I’m the Malaysian. Many special areas that can I advise to the foreign visitor. In Malaysia, the tourism sector plays an important part in the city’s economy, providing income, employment and expanding business opportunities. As an extension of this, many large worldwide hotel chains have presence in the city. Kuala Lumpur is the fifth most visited city in the world, with 8.94 million tourist arrivals in 2008. So I will advise Kuala Lumpur to the visitor that only has one day to spend time in Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur has also developed into an international shopping destination with a wide variety of shopping centers and megamalls which carry well known global and local brands. Conference tourism which mainly encompasses conventions has also expanded in recent years and is becoming a very important component of the industry.
The major tourist destinations in Kuala Lumpur include the Dataran Merdeka (the Independence Square), the House of Parliament, the Istana Budaya, the Istana Negara (National Palace), the Kuala Lumpur Tower, the Muzium Negara (National Museum), the Putra World Trade Centre, the Tugu Negara (National Monument) and mosques such as the Masjid Jamek, the Masjid Negara (National Mosque) and the Federal Territory Mosque.
Other tourist attractions include the Aquaria KLCC, the Batu Caves, the Makam Pahlawan (National Mausoleum), the National Science Centre, Petaling Street, the Royal Selangor pewter visitor centre, the Zoo Negara (National Zoo), and events such as Malay cultural centres, the Chinese cultural festivals at the Thean Hou Temple and the Thaipusam procession at the Sri Mahamariamman Temple. The Golden Triangle, the commercial hub of the city, contains the Petronas Twin Towers and has a distinctive nightlife. Trendy nightclubs, bars and lounges, such as the Beach Club, Espanda, the Hakka Republic Wine Bar & Restaurant, Hard Rock Cafe, the Luna Bar, Nuovo, Rum Jungle, the Thai Club, Zouk, and many others are located within and around Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang.
At the same time, The Kuala Lumpur Tower known as Menara Kuala Lumpur. It is the famous location in Malyasia and it is referred later as KL Tower is a tall tower located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its construction was finished in 1 January 1990. It is used for communication purposes and features an antenna that reaches 421 m (1,381 ft), which currently makes it the eighteenth tallest freestanding tower in the world. The roof of the pod is at 335 m (1,099 ft). The rest of the tower below has a stairwell and an elevator to reach the upper area, which also contains a revolving restaurant, providing diners a beautiful view of the city. Races are organised yearly where participants race up the stairs to the top. The special about this tower also acts as the Islamic falak observatory to look for the crescent moon to mark the beginning of Muslim month of Ramadhan, Syawal, and Zulhijjah, to celebrate fasting month of Ramadhan, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Aidiladha.
In the nutshell, Kuala Lumpur is the grate location for holiday especially a foreign visitor. This ways can promote our country to others in term of improving our economy. I sure all the visitor will enjoy their holiday one day in Malaysia even though it just for the short period.

  33. The best place for the foreign visitor to visit is Langkawi. Langkawi Island is an archipelago of 104 islands lying in the north western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The exact location of these tropical islands is at the site where the Straits of Malacca meets the waters of the Andaman Seas.

The other islands in this group are Island of Pregnant Maiden (Pulau Dayang Bunting), Lion Island (Pulau Singa Besar) and Beras Basah Island. The smallest of these islands are atolls roughly the size of an ordinary house! Langkawi is coined from the Malay words Lang and Kawi. Lang is a brown eagle and Kawi is a local manganese stone. The ancient fishermen must have seen eagles flying clutching the manganese stones! A giant monument of a brown eagle clutching the manganese stone greets all visitors to Langkawi near the Kuah Jetty.

The main tourist attractions of Langkawi Island are its virgin white sandy beaches. The beaches have very gentle continental slope and the water is crystal clear. This island is unique in the sense that it has so many legends and myths associated with it. Langkawi Island is therefore also called Pulau Lagenda or Legendary Island.

The most talked about legend is that of Mahsuri who is said to have laid a curse on this island for seven generations. Luckily the period of this curse is over now and Langkawi Island is fast becoming an internationally recognized tourist destination.
Nestled amidst lush forested hills on an island south of Pulau Langkawi is Tasik Dayang Bunting (Lake of The Pregnant Maide ), the largest lake in Langkawi. The outline of hills and rocky outcrops on one side of the lake resembles the shape of a pregnant maiden lying on her back. However, the name of both the island and the lake is attributed to the legend of a lovely fairy princess who married an earthly prince. Her first child died shortly after birth. She was so sad and depressed that she buried the child in the crystal clear waters of the lake. Before she returned to her celestial abode, she blessed the waters so that any childless maiden who bathed in the lake would conceive thereafter.

The government of Malaysia has declared the entire Langkawi Island as a duty free zone. Hence this island is also termed Duty Free Island. All goods sold in this island are exempted from government tax. Therefore this Legendary Island is a haven for the shoppers. You only need to stay in Langkawi for a minimum of 24 hours to take back home a reasonable amount of tax free goods. So, Langkawi Island is the best place to visit for the foreign visitor.

  34. As we know, there are many of popular and historical places in Malaysia which are suitable for the foreign visitors to come and visit these places. In my opinion the foreign visitor should visit Melaka. Melaka is easily accessible from major points of the country by road, rail, or sea. However, the most recommended means would be by road (private or public transport such as express bus services and taxis), in order to enjoy the scenic experience of travelling through tropical greens of rubber estates and palm oil plantations.
However, it is strategically situated on the famous Straits of Malacca, about 147km south of Kuala Lumpur; Malacca (Melaka) is a place with a proud past. However, not much is known about the state until the 15th Century as there were no proper records prior to this period. According to the annals of history, it was founded by an exiled Hindu prince, Parameswara, from Palembang in Sumatra in 1402. Melaka then grew slowly but steadily to become a major trading centre and port-of-call for ships from the four corners of the world. Among them were Indian-Muslim traders from India whose wealth attracted Parameswara. Not too long after, he too embraced Islam and came to be known as Megat Iskandar Shah. Hence began the Melaka Sultanate.
Moreover, there is Kota A Famosa whereby the visitor today sees only the entrance to what was once an imposing structure that defended the city from attacks. The portuguese built a fortress to defend their position and called it A' Famosa. Then there is the stadhuy. Its exhibits trace the city's history from the time of the ancient Malay kingdoms through Portuguese, Dutch, and British occupation. Today the Portugese settlement in Malacca still exists though many of the youth have travelled to the bigger cities in search of jobs.
With a rich and cultural history, it is no wonder that many visitors choose to visit Malacca and experience for themselves the rich Malaysian heritage and hospitality which is so well known throughout the world. With the thriving tourist industry, Malaysia is able to boost her income and create an even better world for her population.

  35. Malaysia's friendly traditional communities have opened up their homes to foreign guests so they can have a taste of the kampong or village lifestyle to cherish for a lifetime. Experiencing a home stay in a traditional village is perhaps one of the fastest and easiest ways to get to know the real Malaysia.

Tourist will discover that things here move at a slightly slower pace than in the city, and for those who relish the quiet calm of the rustic life, this is possibly as good as it gets. Home stay guests will not just be immersed in the lifestyle of the locals; they will also quickly establish a bond with their warm and welcoming families who will treat them like family.

They will experience the full spectrum of village life. Home-cooking lessons and meal times will surely be a memorable part of your stay. The wide variety and sumptuousness of painstakingly prepared dishes can sometimes be enough to confuse most people they will learn how to prepare the food. This might include gathering, cooking and washing it as well.

The lucky few will also have the opportunity to harvest fruits that are in season or try their skill at plucking coconuts out of palm trees 30-40 ft. above the ground with a bamboo pole! Spend time with the children after they return from school and indulge in traditional games that are still popular, such as kite flying, top-spinning, and congkak. Or can choose to explore surroundings, spend some time at the local pond, trying hand at riverside fishing or perhaps indulge in a spot of farming a la Malaysia. In the evenings, enjoy cultural dances, musical performances and even a mock-wedding, all of which they will be encouraged to participate in.

Experience the charm of Malay traditions that have been preserved throughout the ages, which remain very much alive. Live with your hosts, eat with them, be a part of their family. And when return home, take a memorable cultural experience and the friendships of a family happy to welcome you whenever you return to Malaysia. The amenities in Malaysian villages offer basic comforts. Electricity and running water are available all over Malaysia, while all these villages are connected to big cities via modern highways and public transport.

The kampongs, or villages, that are involved in the home stay programme are committed to ensuring that experience village-style living first-hand are used to welcoming a variety of foreign guests from around the world. These kampongs have been carefully selected and conform to strict guidelines set by the Ministry of Tourism so as to bring out the best of Malaysia. For a cultural experience like no other, the time is now, the place is Malaysia.

  40. As we know, Malaysia has many beautiful and interesting places to visit or travel with family, friends or other clique. For a foreign visitor I suggest them to travel to Palau Langkawi. The reason I decide this place because Pulau Langkawi is a famous destination in Malaysia and it is very fascinating. Other than that, there are many history cases that we can saw with their unique of the buildings in different scenario and legends.
We can visit the Mahsuri Mausoleum, which is 12 kilometres from the main town of Kuah.It is the island’s most famous legendary figure.Mahsuri was unjustly accused of adultery and legend that Mahsuri’s innocence become apparent at her execution as white blood flowed from her body. 42. Pahang, the largest state on the Malaysian peninsula, covers a wide swath of land and coastline in the eastern part of the country. With the South China Sea on one side and vast inland forests and on the other, Pahang offers a broad spectrum of environments, cultures and activities.
The adventurous travellers who make their way to this relatively untrammelled part of Malaysia come for the long sandy beaches, offshore islands, colonial hill stations and virgin jungle waiting to be explored. Although outdoor activities make up the bulk of highlights in Pahang, there are also a few cultural attractions and a taste of urban life in the relaxed capital, Kuantan
Gunang Tahan, the highest mountain on the peninsula, is also here beckoning climbers and trekkers looking for extreme adventure. Another highlight of Pahang is its proximity to the idyllic tropical island of Pulau Tioman, arguably one of the most beautiful and underrated islands in Southeast Asia. A long list of excellent white sand beaches stretch along Pahang’s eastern coastline, offering quick access to the South China Sea and all the water sports that go with it.
The hub of Pahang’s urban life is found in its capital Kuantan, a small city with a relaxed tropical feel. Visitors can fly into Kuantan from Kuala Lumpurr and a couple of other regional destinations and make their way around the sprawling state via bus or rental car.
Accommodation can be found in all of the developed areas of Pahang. Resorts and hotels are readily available along the beaches, at the colonial hill stations, and in most of the larger towns. Don’t expect too much in the way of modern amenities though; this sleepy undiscovered region of Malaysia is still in its youth.
Since that momentous day, Pahang has enjoyed a steady and stabile economy. Although mainly fuelled by agriculture and manufacturing, tourism has become an increasingly strong source of income for the state. As Malaysia continues its growth and popularity as a travel destination, the state of Pahang looks set to reap the benefits as more visitors arrive to explore the untapped mountainous interior and beautiful coastline.

A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
Tiltte: Cameron Highlands Malaysia Travel Destination.
Cameron Highlands is one of the most popular highlands retreat around Malaysia losing out only to Genting Highlands. With about 300,000 visitors yearly. Traveling to the highlands is different from going to the beautiful sun, sea and sand of which Malaysia has many good ones around, especially the Terengganu and Sabah beaches which are to my opinion some of the best around in Malaysia. But the tropic is indeed hot, and to cool oneself without using artificial means is of course, to travel to the highlands! With the natural environment one can commune with nature and perhaps find your center as you balance the yin and yang of a hectic hustle and bustle city lifestyle.
The best way to explore it would be by car of course. Public buses has never been efficient anywhere in Malaysia, least of all in the highlands. But you are welcome to take your chances if you are without your own transport.Other than that, with the advent of digital camera, it is now much easier to indulge in one of the favourite hobby of photography. Where possible, plastered in practically every page within this web site are beautiful pictures at the Cameron Highlands.
Besides that, there are many chioce of accomodation, good mild range and budjet ones to suite the various types of travelers, there are many well furnised hotel apartment with cooking facilities. Many resorts, bungalows, apartments or hotel ,guestouse that we will choose with our own budjet from the cheapest until expensive.
As we know Cameron Highlands are popular with the tea plantation. The visitor should go to the City of Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur who is the capital city of Malaysia is one of the most important business center in the world. Moreover, at Kuala Lumpur, it is a home of shopping center that has a world recognisation. That is why I would suggest the foreign visitors to spend one memorable day at the city center of Malaysia

If the visitor who enjoy shopping, Kuala Lumpur is a right place to go. In the city, it located 3 major shopping mall, Midvalley Megamall, Berjaya Times Square, and also Pavillion. This 3 major shopping mall, it is well-known to the tourist who visit Malaysia every year. Moreover at Berjaya Times Square, it has a biggest indoor theme park in Asean. Beside doing shopping, the tourist can go to the indoor theme park to enjoy their day.

Others than shopping complex, Kuala Lumpur also had two man-made lakes , Titiwangsa Lakes Garden and also Perdana Lake Gardens. It is place where people gather and do activities such as jogging and playing games. The tourist can go to the lake gardens and enjoy their day with some healthy activities especially in the evening

If the tourist like nature, they can go to the KL Birds Park located near the Parliament and also Perdana Lakes Garden. It is home of thousand of birds in the big cages. We cannot imagine, a city who had a bird park in its. Near to the bird parks, it also has a hibiscus gardens. It has many types of hibiscus. Hibiscus is actually the national flower of Malaysia. So if the tourist love nature, they can go both of this place. It is a peaceful place to go

The main reason why I suggest Kuala Lumpur is, it has a very good connection of the public transport. They can use either monorail, bus, or taxi. It can make the tourist more easier to go to the place that they want without any problem. The tourist will not have any problem.

  46. I will bring the foreign visitor to visit Malacca. Malacca is situated on the west coast, three hundreds and sixty miles south of Penang and one hundred and sixty miles from our neighbor country, Singapore. As the oldest town in this multiracial motherland, Malaysia, its history is recorded in its many buildings, fortresses and other structures. I’m sure that the visitor will fell awesome by visiting Malacca.
Another crystal clear reason the makes Malacca is a place of national importance to Malaysia is because of its harbor. In the ancient times, the harbor was suitable for many large ships from western and eastern countries all over the world. However, today, the harbor cannot be used for large ships as it does not have proper accommodation. As an alternative, there is plenty of good fishing and what is more interesting, there is fine basket-making as one of the sources of economy for Malacca state in these recent times.
Malacca has unique population features by fascinating blend of Malays, Chinese, Indians, Straits-born Chinese, Baba and Nyoya, Portuguese descendant and Eurasian has also made it as one of the place that is important to our motherland. To put it laconically, Malacca is worthwhile for preserving as it encapsulated so many historic events that are mostly portray through its buildings.
The visitor can take many pictures at the historic buildings and can get the sweet memory there. he also can buy many interesting souvenirs to his country.

Travelling is a good way to find out more about different countries with different traditions and customs. Some travellers prefer to spend in one country just a few days or one day and then leave for another country. This way of travelling allows people to visit more countries in less days. Unfortunately, in this case such travellers have to hurry in order to visit more places.
Every country has own national identities people proud of. Therefore, if somebody is interested in their traditional values, they are pleased to show what they respect. As far as I am concerned, I also like to proud of my country's traditions. Hence, if somebody wants to spend his or her a day in my country, I will be delighted to invite him or her to my village because they can learn everything related to our culture.
Malaysia is a country with developing economy. It belongs to group of the richest and developed countries among developing countries - to the group of New Industrial Countries. “In 2007, the economy of Malaysia was the 29th largest economy in the world by purchasing power parity with gross domestic product for 2007 was estimated to be $357.9 billion.
Lots of things remind me of Malaysia in Spinning Gasing, besides it being a national film set in Malaysia with Malaysian actors. The extremely obvious Malaysia-Truly-Asia parts were the first scenes of the film, where the audience were shown shots of various people in several parts of Malaysia practicing the local tradition of their races, whether it's of Indian culture, Malay, or Chinese.

The pirates which once infested the waters around Langkawi have been replaced by visitors of another kind. Sun and sand lovers from around the world have discovered the incredible natural beauty of this Malaysian island just south of the border with Thailand. Langkawi lies where the Strait of Malacca meets the Andaman Sea, offering excellent water activities to go with its glorious sandy beaches and comfortable resorts.
Langkawi is the largest island among an archipelago of around 100 islands and serves as the gateway to exploring this region of the Andaman Sea. Tourism has only existed here for about 20 years, making Langkawi a relatively new and undeveloped destination. The sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling and other water sports are as good here as anywhere else in the region. Langkawi also has the advantage of a beautiful mountainous interior where hot springs, trekking and waterfalls await more adventurous travelers.
Evidence of this blend of myth and reality is best exemplified by the legend of Mahsuri, a beautiful young woman who married Mat Deris, the son of Langkawi’s ruler during the late 1700s. Wrongly accused of adultery by her jealous husband, Mahsuri was executed at Padang Hangus. She issued a curse with her dying breath that the island would see no prosperity for the next seven generations. Mahsuri’s Mausoleum still stands as testimony to this dramatic event.
Culturally, the island has its own unique mythology which is promoted at every turn. Tales of giants, fairies and doomed princesses add a pleasant fantastical flavor to the standard array of beach activities.
The prime tourism season is during the dry winter months from November through June, when the skies are reliably blue and the seas calm enough for snorkeling. This is also when most visitors arrive, seeking refuge from cold northern winters. Make your room reservations well in advance if you plan to travel around New Year, when the best resorts quickly fill up.

  50. A Foreign Visitor

There are many places of interests in our country such as beaches, islands and rain forest. Malaysia's rain forest is considered as the oldest in the world. The diverse species of animals and plant life continue to excite a great deal of scientific research. Many believe that some undiscovered plant may hold cures to many currently incurable human diseases. There are many islands in our country such as Pulau Langkawi, Pulau Redang, Pulau Ketam and many others.

If a foreign visitor has only one day to spend in my country, I will suggest that he or she should go to Pulau Langkawi. Pulau Langkawi has a lot of historitical informations. Those who are in favour of history can go there to explore the history of that place. All the beaches in those islands are beautiful. The sand is soft and white. The accommodation is well-established and that makes those islands ideal places to visit.

Langkawi officially known as Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah is an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. Langkawi is also an administrative district with the town of Kuah as the capital and largest town. Langkawi is a duty-free island.

On June 1, 2007, Langkawi Island has been given a World Geopark status by UNESCO. Three of its main conservation area in Langkawi Geopark, Machincang Cambrian Geoforest Park, Kilim Karst Geoforest Park and Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest park (Island of the Pregnant Maiden Lake). These three parks are the most popular tourism area within Langkawi Geopark.

Some of the most popular beaches are Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah, Burau Bay, Pantai Kok, and Datai Bay. Pantai Cenang is a picturesque beach with seemingly unending stretches of fine white sand. The beach is contoured by tall coconuts and casuarinas. Pantai Tengah is separated from Cenang by a small cape. Burau Bay, fringed by rocky outcrops, is the favorite place of migratory birds in Langkawi. Pantai Kok is a peaceful beach with the backdrop of limestone hills. Datai Bay has combination of forests and sea. The milky beach is backed by lush forest. The Langkawi Cable Car takes visitors up to the peak of Gunung Mat Chinchang, where the Langkawi Sky Bridge is located.

Tourists can enter into the island via ferry from Kuala Perlis or by flight from Kuala Lumpur. AirAsia, provides budget connections to the island. In short, Malaysia is unique that it has diversity of races, religions and cultures, a stable and peaceful environment, places of interest and some internal achievements. Those are important characteristic of our nation. It is rich of cultural heritage; it would be worth to play a visit here.

  51. As a Malaysian citizen, I have some experience of visiting other states in my country other than my whole life living in Johor Bahru as my home town. Mostly, I had those holidays during my childhood time and I can’t really remember about the places but I still can remember the enjoyment. But, after I have joined my nursing course I have the chance myself to travel to other states for clinical posting such as Kuala Lumpur and Penang. On that time, I really take the opportunity to spend my weekends to hangout around Penang and visit some of the interesting places in there. 53. Traveling is the best activities we can do during the free time. Traveling can release tension and also can spend our time with full experiences. That also can make we feel enjoy, happening and also can close the relation ship with members or family. If the foreign visitors want to travel to my country, I will bring them to the best place at Malaysia. For example, I will bring them to Pulau Ketam at Klang,Selangor. That place is very nice and the good place to release tension.

Pulau Ketam, literally translated, means “crab island”. It is a small island located off the coast of Klang. The island is easily accessible from the Port Klang jetty by ferry. The “floating houses” that come to view as visitors approach the island is a sight to awe any city slickers. Perching casually on long wooden stilts, these dwellings are suspended about one to ten (1-10) meters above sea level.
Pulau Ketam is the best opportunity for visitors to witness and experience the unique lifestyle of fishermen. Home stay facilities are readily available. Besides that, Pulau Ketam also having a very special viewpoint with town city where this island escape from air pollutions, traffic jams, finding car parking problem. Seafood is a natural wonder of this isle, and Pulau Ketam is renowned for fresh crabs, prawns and fish. It is indeed a seafood gourmet’s paradise.

We can go there by train (KTM Commuter) it will take an hour and a half to Pelabuhan Kelang from KLSentral in Kuala Lumpur.Traveling by ferry from Port Klang will take about 45 minutes to reach the jetty at Pulau Ketam. The ferry can bring 80 passengers in one trip. There are 14 trips during working days and they are increased to 22 trips during weekend and public holidays. There are 8 ferries operating per day. The price for one way adult ticket is RM 5.30 (USD 1.40) and for children below 12 years is RM 3.50 (USD 0.95).

The average number of local tourists visiting the island is about 500 people per month and foreign tourists are about 50 persons per month. Port Klang is accessible from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur via regular buses, taxis and trains services. In the absence of proper motorway, the people in the island are using either motorcycle, bicycle/engine-powered bicycle or simply walk to move from one place to another.

  54. Tioman Island is 32 miles off the coast reached by a 2hr ferry from the port town of Mersing. There are several beach resorts (collections of huts; no road) arranged around the coast. We’d decided to go to ABC beach (used as Bali Hai in the musical South Pacific).

On arriving we discovered that much of the accommodation was already booked, especially as we wanted 5 nights. Our first night was spent in a basic fan hut but Sarah wanted a little more sophistication not too much to ask for a sink and an extra socket or two! Fortunately, we found a chalet available which suited us, and very fortunately from our point of view it was back up the slope away from the beach – this seemed a bit strange as the beach side huts are rented at a premium but in our opinion this location really made the visit for us as it was much quieter and we saw more wild life
Unfortunately, on unpacking Martyn found that shower gel had leaked and was everywhere. The only critical casualty of this was our laptop’s power supply which when plugged in initially took out the chalet’s power circuit and then started to smoke not too good! It was a bit of a downer that we might not be able to use the laptop or charge up the iPod although there would always be internet cafés.

ABC is a nice ‘resort’ spread out along 600m of beach. There’s a concrete strip about 1.5m wide which runs the length of the resort just back from the beach. This is used for foot traffic, as a motorbike track by all of the locals including young children (typical of SE Asia) and by the numerous dive centres with bikes plus side-cars moving gear to and from the pier – so quite busy.
The beach at ABC was okay but not fantastic, so a close up view was not a must have and being away from the strip our chalet offered a quiet spot with a distant view of the sea over the beach palms and was often visited by a variety of wildlife. We spent our days swimming and sitting in the sun. We walked to Monkey Bay through the jungle one day to snorkel and sunbathe and this did prove to be a beach not to miss, beautiful sand, a curving bay and only a handful of people to share it with. While chasing down a replacement for our laptop supply at the local internet café Martyn just happened to meet a dive instructor who’d also needed a replacement laptop supply synchronicity and had managed to find a one in a Chinese electrical shop back at he port town of Mersing the advice was just to go into all of the shops with washing machines and fans on the pavement and just ask for a 19V laptop power adaptor as you doTalk about dubious, I mean what was the chance of finding a suitable laptop supply (in fact a second one) in a two street town like Mersing we decided it was our best chance anyway.

  55. QUESTION: A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
    ANSWER.
In Malaysia have many beautiful place for visitors. Malaysia also have a shopping mall can make more tourist. Some other place can make fun and enjoy to the visitors. Island at Malaysia is one of special thing to make many tourist came to Malaysia. For my place at Kedah not have many exciting place but in Langkawi Island at Kedah can make some visitor happy and enjoy for shopping and visit some visiting place as Makam Mahsuri.
Legend has it that the pure white sandy beaches were originated from the seepage of white blood that flowed from the body of a beautiful princess named Mahsuri. Mahsuri, who was wrongly accused of having an adulterous affair, was quickly judged, condemned, and sentenced to death. Her continuous protest of innocence was in vain. However, during her execution none of the soldiers assigned as executioners could complete the task with their weapons. This place of makam Mahsuri is one of interesting place to visit.
Telaga Tujuh was situated at the down-hill of Mount Mat Cincang, which was about 23km away from Kuah that near to the east coastal of Langkawi island. The seven waterfalls were located near to each other’s and seems like been neatly arranged and became like a stair. The highest waterfall of Telaga Tujuh was 91 meter from the sea and the flow rate of the water in this waterfall was high due to the water was flow from the mountain peak. The water flowed from the first waterfall, which was the highest waterfall and then flowed to the second waterfall and continuously up to the seventh waterfall which was most near to the down-hill of Mount Mat Cincang. This is beautiful place to visit.
Remnants of the burnt rice could still be seen in a cordoned area in Padang Mat Sirat, Kampung Raha. The burnt rice is said to have been buried below ground before being burnt, but often appears on the surface after a rainy day. The local authorities used to turn a blind eye to tourists taking some of the burnt rice home as souvenirs, but this practice has since been stopped due to dwindling amounts of burnt rice. The visitor can see the burnt rice and can take the picture for gallery.

  56. Pantai Penarik is located within a recreational area frequently attended by the locals. There seemed to be a camping ground and probably some motel rooms here too. The water is fantastic and the view of traditional fishing boats docked at the beach by the local villagers is something you could treasure.

The beach tends to get very breezy because of the open sea. From here, the visitors can catch a glimpse of the famous islands off the coast of Terengganu – on the far left are the Perhentians, sitting in the middle is the small island of Pulau Lang Tengah, and far right is the world-famous Pulau Redang. There are a few food stalls here, plenty of picnic benches and ample parking spots.
Driving along Penarik is a pleasant experience. Along the way, there are coconut trees shading the road and Malay village houses spotted here and there between the trees. The beach, Pantai Penarik is somewhere behind the coconut trees, 90km to the north of Kuala Terengganu. Straight and sandy coast line is the major attraction for holiday seekers who intend to tan their skin and have a couple hours of quite and relaxing time.
From Kuala Terengganu, take the coastal road to Merang and from there just travel north to Penarik. From Kota Baharu, head towards Kampung Raja in the Besut district and signs will indicate the coastal road down to Terengganu. Follow the signs and when you hit the Setiu district, you’ll know that Penarik won’t be far away. If by bus, from town, grab a local bus to Penarik from the local bus terminal although it may be infrequent and often waits till there are enough passengers before leaving.

We also don’t worry about the food because at this place we can find many kind of foods. For example, Terapung Restaurant, Merang Restaurant (Sutra Beach Resort), Mamat Latif Coffee Shop and also Ayu Restaurant.

  57. Malaysia is a beautiful country offering exquisite treasure of beaches, ocean, and natural beauties. It’s a popular vacation destination for all types of vacations. Entire Malaysia is beautiful, yet there are several sites and places that can be regarded as the precious gems of the country.

Melaka, it is traditionally believed that the history of Malaysia began with the founding of Melaka in 1400 by Parameswara, a Sumatran prince. Thereafter, the state flourished under the Melaka Sultanate and eventually became the region's largest emporium, attracting traders from as far as China, India, Arabia and Europe. In the light of its rich historical past, Melaka has been officially declared the "Historical City of Malaysia."

The famous Portuguese fortress, A' Famosa, built in 1511, protected Melaka from attacks and was almost completely destroyed after the Dutch invasion. All that remains is the Porta de Santiago and some cannons. No trip to Melaka would be complete without seeing its antiques and curios, best found in the shops along Jonker Street. In fact, Melaka has many small shops selling just about everything, from handmade shoes to bamboo bird cages at very reasonable prices.

Portuguese Square is also affectionately referred to as ‘Mini Lisbon.' Located on the Portuguese settlement, it has a central courtyard with several restaurants and souvenir stalls. Residents live in the vicinity in homes on Portuguese-named lanes. Cultural performances are held every weekend. Restaurants are open nightly.

At one end of the main square near the Stadhuys is the bright red Dutch reformed church called Christ Church, built in 1753 to replace St. Paul's as the principal place of worship. The pink bricks were brought from Holland and plastered with local red laterite. The ceiling beams were cut from a single tree and have no joints. The handmade pews are originals dating back over 200 years. Above the altar in the central apse is a frieze of the “Last Supper” in glazed tiles. The brass Bible rest dates back to 1773. The British turned it into an Anglican church and added a weathercock and bell tower, but it still has its old Dutch tombstones laid on the floor.

Built based on the description and reference to the palace in 'Sejarah Melayu,' or Malay history, the wooden replica houses the Melaka Cultural Museum. Situated at the foothills of St. Paul's Hill, it is the only Malay palace from Melaka's glorious past that was built with such detail and refinement.

  61. Question 16: A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
Having a vacancy can make people reduce their stress and also can know their own ethic, people, believe, history and others. For in Malaysia have a good place to people who want a peaceful. But the best place that I will introduce to foreign visitor is Tioman Island. That place already has a wonderful environment.
Tioman Island Also Known As Small Island and it located 32 km of the east coast of peninsular Malaysia in the state of Pahang. Their long is 39km and the wide is 12 km. Tioman Island has eight main villages, but the largest and most popular of the village is Kampung Tekek which is in the north. Most places to stay are clustered around the villages that are dotted along Tioman’s coastline while there are a few small resorts that are built around private beach coves.
For me Tioman Island is a biggest attraction. The water around the island is filled with corals of all shapes and colours and home to a vast diversity of sea creatures, including two species of marine turtle. There are a few excellent beaches on Tioman, and these curves of golden sand are usually tucked away at the edges of villages or fronting one of the many resorts.
Actually, Tioman Island has their legend. According to legend, Tioman Island is the resting place of a beautiful dragon princess. Whilst flying from China to visit her prince in Singapore, this beautiful maiden stopped to seek solace in the crystal-clear waters of the South China Sea. Enraptured by the charms of the place, she decided to discontinue her journey. By taking the form of an island, she pledged to offer shelter and comfort to passing travelers.
I think if the foreigner want go to special place only for a one day, I gurantee they were very satisfied with Tioman Island. They will come to Tioman again for a vacancy because Tioman have their own specialities.

  63. I am proud to be a Malaysian. Why I have said it because for me my country is different from other country. If somebody wants to spend their time in Malaysia, I would like to suggest the places that they should go and spend their holiday. The places that I would like to suggest are Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of the Malaysia. This is the biggest city in Malaysia where by many of people in this country will be there with different types of thing to do such as working.
The first place that I would like to suggest is Dataran Merdeka. Dataran Merdeka is the places where by the Independent day of Malaysia is celebrate for the first time. Although the building surrounding this places is quite old but it still well manage.
Next place would be Kuala Lumpur tower and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre or KLCC. Both of towers are the tallest building in the Malaysia. From there we will be able to see the entire view of the city of Kuala Lumpur. It would be the nice experience also if we can spend our time in one of the restaurant in KLCC. This restaurant is special because while we enjoy our meal, we also can enjoy the view surrounding because this restaurant is spinning.
Other places that suitable and interesting in Kuala Lumpur is Sunway Lagoon. This place actually is the water theme park. It is suitable especially to the family to spend their weekends together. For me this place is nice and can release the stress after being working for whole day. I am sure that all the visitor also have been to the other theme park before but for me our country also have a nice theme park and it must be different from other theme park.

So many place that actually we as the Malaysian also never been there before. For me if I would like to take some body to visit my country I would like to suggest to them to spend their time more than a week. It is because so many places in our country and one day visit actually not enough ti them to know more about our country.

A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

The world's largest and oldest Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre is located at Sepilok, which is a 20-minute drive from Sandakan. An area of 11,000 acres of virgin equatorial rainforest has been set aside as forest reserve and orang utan rehabilitation centre. Here, you can experience a close encounter with the "Wild Man of Borneo."
Orang utan rehabilitation is when a young orang utan is orphaned or kept as a pet, it is unable to live in its natural habitat on its own; much of its survival depends on acquired skills, which the young orang utan gets from its mother in its first five to six years of life. At the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre orphaned or pet orang utans are trained to live an independent life in their natural habitat. This process can be quite long, and includes a "kindergarten," enclosed and controlled areas, and in its last stage the open forest reserve in Sepilok, where the orang utans are free-roaming. It is in this forest reserve where visitors get a chance to see the orang utans.
The best time to view them is during feeding times at 10 a.m, and at 2.30 p.m, at the feeding plat-form. At other times access to the reserve is restricted to minimise disturbance of the apes. The trail to the feeding plat-form is a plank-walkway suitable for all visitors, and on the way you can marvel at huge and rare rainforest trees. If you observe the canopy closely, you will find orang utan nests, and with some luck a curious ape will meet you on the way to the platform. Please do under no circumstances touch the animals, and be aware of the naughty pig and long-tail macaques. Leave your bag, inclusive hand phone, cigarettes and mosquito repellent at the reception, where you have to pay entrance and camera / video fees.
After the feeding of the orang utan it is recommended that you head for the video presentation at the visitor centre. The short film explains in detail the philosophy of the rehabilitation, and the importance of the work of the rangers of Sepilok.
In a nutshell, if tourist wants to spend their time in our country, there must visit the Hutan Sepilok Sandakan because this type of species is extinct nowadays and sabah is only the place which is placed these orang utan.

  65. QUESTION 16

Kelantan is a state of Malaysia. The capital and royal seat is Kota Bharu. The Arabic honorific of the state is Darul Naim, ("The Blissful Abode"). Kelantan is positioned in the north-east of Peninsular Malaysia. It is bordered by Narathiwat Province of Thailand to the north, Terengganu to the south-east, Perak to the west, and Pahang to the south. To the north-east of Kelantan is the South China Sea. Kelantan is located in the north-eastern corner of the peninsula, Kelantan, which is said to translate as the Land of Lightning, is an agrarian state with lush paddy fields, rustic fishing villages and casuarina-lined beaches. Kelantan is home to some of the most ancient archaeological discoveries in Malaysia, including several prehistoric aboriginal settlements.

Kelantan has a chiefly agrarian economy dominated by rice, rubber and tobacco. Fishing along its 96-kilometre coastline is also an important economic activity. Cottage industries which employ traditional skills in handicraft production such as batik, woodcarving and songket weaving are also evident. Logging activities are active given the vast remaining area of forest. In recent years, tourism, especially to offshore islands, has increased in importance. A few reputable hotels have been established and more modern shopping malls have been opened to cater for urban folks. Kota Bharu, the capital, is the major urban centre, and there are also plans to open up the southern portion of the state under an ambitious multi-million-dollar development project. The main market at the city centre is a top attraction.

Kelantan Malays are a different breed. Unlike other Malays, they are believed to originate from old Malay civilizations from the north, not the south. Many Kelantanese also have Thai ancestry. This is why they have always been different from other Malays in Malaysia, both culturally and physically. However, they are considered and treated as normal Malays. Kelantanese Malay dialect is distinguished from standard Malay as well as other Malay dialects by its unique grammar, pronunciation and figures of speech. Kelantanese Malay is the only lingua franca of the state, is used in the local mass media, and is so commonly used for daily communication that some Kelantanese cannot speak the standard form of Malay, as promoted by the Federal Government. The dialect is also prevalent beyond the state borders in southern Thailand and in Besut, the northernmost district of Terengganu. Whilst the Arab script called Jawi has less influence in the other parts of Malaysia, it is still widely used in writing and printing the Malay language in Kelantan. Signboards in Kelantan are written in both Jawi and Rumi. To a certain extent, Thai is also used.

The Kelantanese cuisine, heavily influenced by Thai cuisine, is quite popular among Malaysians. In fact, many visitors come to Kelantan just to taste the special delicacies that cannot be found elsewhere. The use of sugar is a must in every Kelantanese kitchen, and thus most Kelantanese dishes are sweet. Kelantanese food makes more use of coconut milk than anywhere else in the country. Curries are richer, creamier, and more influenced by the tastes of nearby Thailand. Apart from consumable items imported from Thailand, there are consumable items which are invented by the Kelantanese themselves such as nasi kerabu. Nasi dagang, nasi ulam, laksam kelantan, keropok gote, and coconut shake. other than that kalantan also famous with budu. Budu is a salted (fermented) anchovy sauce eaten with rice, grilled fish and vegetables or salads (ulam). A bit of lime juice, hot chilis and shallots are added on for taste. Also, tempoyak fermented durian or fresh durian is added for good measure.
As a conclusion, kelantan should to visit and know more about the specialty had. If you know more about Kelantan, you will be happy and enjoy more with people in kelantan. Kelantan have something better than the normal. I m love my village, Kelantan.

  66. In fact Penang has a history that goes way back to the days of the Malaccan Sultanate in the 14 th century. Portuguese traders from India used Penang as their replenishment centre for water, food and traded with the villagers. The main stopover point was at Batu Feringghi or Feringghi's Rock. The word Feringghi is an Indian term for Europeans. Today, Batu Feringghi remains a lure to Europeans. Beach resorts and hotels gradually replaced Fishing and Malay Villages that used to line this beautiful beachfront. Today, a walk down Batu Feringhi and one familiarity pops to mind - Pattong, Phuket. well, minus the sleaze and women sliding down pole bars. (Still a great place to go for families).
Batu Feringghi has maintained quite a bit of its charm despite the sudden influx of restaurants ranging from steak houses and Indian cuisine to seafood outlets and even a large food court selling local food at reasonable prices. In the evenings, the walkway along the main street disappears as the night market vendors take over the area. Visitors can find all sorts of handicraft work, pirated movie and music VCDs/DVDs, Von Dutch handbags and t-shirts (fake!!) and some pretty kitsch items for sale. The good side of this is that all though the hustle and bustle is there at Batu Feringghi, it's still only found mainly along the main street. For those looking for peace and quiet, one can retreat into the comforts of their hotels, the tranquillity of their pool areas or on the beach. Once within the sanctuary, sanity restores.
Francis Light renamed Pulau Kasatu as Prince of Wales Island on 12th August 1786; to commemorate the birthday of the Prince of Wales, later, George IV, and the capital became George Town. However, naming the island Prince of Wales Island didn't really catch on with the inhabitants and later reverting to Penang Island. When Light landed at Cape Penaigre (now Georgetown), he found that the interior of the island was almost impenetrable, leaving no open land to establish a camp. In his diary, Light complained, 'the wood is so exceedingly hard that the tools double like a piece of lead'. Exasperated, he came up with an ingenious idea of filling a cannon with silver dollars and firing into the jungle. Then he hired onlooking natives, armed them with axes and had the jungle cleared of tough ironwood trees (Pegaga Laut) in no time!
The Peranakan Mansion sits just across the street from Penang Heritage Trust's office. The large mansion is now wedged between a row of shophouses. With the help of Sir Francis Light , the mansion was built in 1893 by the then Kapitan Cina, Chung Keng Kwee. A prominent businessman and leader of the chinese community of the Hakka clan, Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee built this mansion by the sea after acquiring two properties along Church Street ~ a former headquarters of the Ghee Hin ( the rival clan) and a Chinese school, the Goh Hock Tong (or Ng Fook Tong in Cantonese).

Some travelers prefer to spend in one country just a few days or one day and then leave for another country. This way of traveling allows people to visit more countries in less days. Unfortunately, in this case such travelers have to hurry in order to visit more places.
I am from Malacca. So, if a foreign visitor has only one day to spend in my country I think I would advice him to visit my place because it has a lot interesting places that will give fun and happy memories although with a short time of visiting.
The first place is the Stadthuys built in 1650 as the official residence of Dutch Governors and their officers, the edifice is a example of Dutch architecture. It preserved in its original structure and form, it now houses the History Museum and Ethnography Museum. On display daily are traditional bridal costumes and relics from Malacca's glorious past.
Other place that must be visit is Christ Church. It standing exactly as it has always been since 1753, the church is testimony to Dutch architectural ingenuity and commenced in 1741 to commemorate a century of Dutch rule and took 12 years to complete. The church's is 200 years old handmade pews, its 8 feet long ceiling beams constructed from a single tree without joins, Brass Bible rest which dates back to 1773, tombstone written in Armenian and 'Last Super' in glazed tiles.
After that, A'Famosa is the hallmark of Malacca and perhaps the most photographed subject next to the Stadhuys. Built by the Portuguese in 1511 as a fortress it sustained severe structural damage during the Dutch Invasion. The British East India Company had set to destroy it but timely intervention by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1808 saved what remains of A Famosa today.
Different from that, Malacca also have Hang Jebat's Mausoleum that must be visited by the tourist.Hang Jebat was the champion of justice who died a tragic death.
Lastly, I think it is worth to spend there a whole day and I believe that after that a foreign visitor can claim with a proud that he or she saw Malacca.

  69. Visiting Kelantan in a day will never be enough. The east coast state of Kelantan is a charming destination with colourful traditions, interesting pastimes and superb handicrafts. Watch captivating activities such as top-spinning, giant kite-flying or woodcarving. The batik and songket fabrics produced by cottage industries here are among the best in the country. Its laid-back atmosphere, rustic charms and friendly locals add to Kelantan's appeal.

To know about culture of Kelantan, Cultural Centre Locally known as Gelanggang Seni, the Cultural Centre is a veritable showcase of the state's rich cultural heritage. Watch an enthralling range of traditional performances such as shadow puppetry, Malay martial arts, top-spinning, giant kite flying and musical performances. It is managed by local people who love the art and culture most. The shadow puppetry usually performed on night, but the musical traditional performances can be watched during day time as well.

Handicraft Village and Craft Museum set within a beautiful village setting, the complex houses a craft museum, craft shops, tourism offices and a restaurant. Browse through various traditional tools and handicrafts in its museum. Cultural shows and craft demonstrations are held from time to time. We also can taste the delightful Kelantanese cuisine for lunch and also for hi-tea. The State Museum located along Jalan Hospital incorporates the State Art Gallery. The building itself was utilised as the land office from colonial times until 1990 when major renovations were carried out to convert it into a museum. The museum documents the arts, crafts and musical traditions of Kelantan. Ceramic displays testify to the early trade with China and artifacts from local archaeological sites provide evidence of the existence of the pre-historic age in Kelantan.

Other than that, the bustling Siti Khadijah Market is one of Kelantan's landmark attractions. Visitors can find everything from vegetables, local snacks to fresh tropical fruits. The colourful assemblage of goods and lively atmosphere makes it irresistible to shutterbugs. A unique feature here is that the majority of traders are women. They are managed their business by self and the relation between the traders are very tight to each others.

  74. A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

Every country has it's tourist attractions and beautiful scenery that many people enjoy. My country has very beautiful nature and I'm sure that this foreign visitor will enjoy it a lot. I'll take a visitor to Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and not only because a visitor can enjoy there the extraordinary nature , but this place has also a historical meaning.

Kuala Pilah is located high in the mountains where the visitor can enjoy the wild nature and the clean air. At Kuala Pilah, Ulu Bendul Recreational Park are very famous. This place is situated at the entrance of Kuala Pilah as we exit from the North-South Highway. There's a row of foodcourt at the front and the waterfall, chalets and other recreational activities can be found around the area.
Next destination is Istana Seri Menanti or Old Palace of Sri Menanti. Istana Seri Menanti is the masterpiece of Minangkabau architecture. It was built at the turn of the 20th century to replace an older palace which was burnt down during the Sungai Ujong tin wars. The palace is situated in an old royal town of the state of Negeri Sembilan. The building itself is made out of wood and attached together without the use of any single nails. A beautiful landscape to enter the palace and a long walk from the gate to the main entrance.

Exept for the history the foreigner can learn through books ,that he can purchase from their, or from his tour guide about the traditions and cultural differences of the Minangkabau people. A visitor can learn about many interesting customs that we do every year. A visitor will be able to try out many of the Minangkabau national dishes and enjoy our food ,which according to many foreigners is very tasty.

In my conclusion, Kuala Pilah has more history about custom and also has very beautiful nature and waterfall.I think that it will be interesting for the foreigner to see that site and feel some of the freedom for which my people fought on that day.

  75. Malaysia best-known holiday destination, Langkawi is one of those places whose name alone summons up images of tropical romance and carefree days under swaying coconut palms. In the Andaman Sea 30km off the coast from Kuala Perlis, it is made up of a group of 99 islands, accessible by boat from Georgetown, Kuala Perlis, Kuala Kedah and Satun, Thailand, or by air from Georgetown in Penang, KL and Singapore.
Only the main island, the 478.5 sq km Pulau Langkawi, has any real settlement. Fringed with long, sandy beaches and with an interior of jungle-clad hills and picturesque paddy-fields, it’s easy to see why this is Malaysia’s most heavily promoted tourist hotspot. Since Langkawi was declared a duty-free zone in 1986, the island has received yet more visitors, many intent solely on carting off cheap booze. Other tourist developments are ongoing, including the recently completed marina at Telaga Harbour Park. Shopping complexes dominate the main town, Kuah, while luxury resorts occupy isolated bays.
Langkawi also hosts some major events including the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition around November, the Langkawi Arts and Crafts Festival (LACRAF) in December, the Langkawi International Water Festival in April and the biennial Langkawi International Festival of Arts (LIFA). Away from the built-up areas Langkawi is still a rural Malay island of small villages, rice paddies, water buffaloes and natural beauty.
Legend of Tasik Dayang Bunting - The favorite bathing pool of a celestial princess named Mambang Sari was said to be Tasik Dayang Bunting (lake of the pregnant maiden). A prince, Mat Teja, fell madly in love with her and tricked her into marrying him. It did not take her long to reciprocate his love and so could not bear to return to her celestial home. Sadly, their child died from a mysterious illness at the age of seven days. Distraught, the grieving Mambang Sari left the child's body in the lake and returned to her heavenly abode. Today, some believe barren women who bathe in this lake will be endowed with a child. Many have claimed to be successful.
In spite of all this, I prefer and choose Langkawi as the place for our visitor to come.

  78. I love to be Malaysian. No other country in the world share so many culture and celebration. Furthermore, Malaysia had a lot of places to be discovered by foreign visitor. If I’ve been given a chance to bring a foreign visitor to spend their holiday here I’ll bring them to a state called Kedah.

Kedah is very famous with ‘Negeri Jelapang Padi’ because there they planted paddy. Moreover, it has a very beautiful and amazing island called Pulau Langkawi. Langkawi means reddish brown eagle in colloquial Malay. It takes only 1 hour from Jetty Kuala Kuah to that island. Always that foreign visitors love to spent time more at an island more than in a city.

More than it island, Pulau Langkawi also known with it legend, Mahsuri. She was the most beautiful in all of Langkawi and married the warrior Wan Darus. She was killed after a rumour about her has been spread. When she was stabbed, white blood flowed from the wound, signifying her innocence. The kingdom was soon taken over by Siam. The villagers at Padang Mat Sirat burned their own paddy fields rather than let them fall into the hands of the Siamese.

Here, you can go to Makam Mahsuri, Padang Mat Sirat, Tasik Dayang Bunting, Telaga Tujuh and many other places. Moreover, the souvenirs here are sold with the lowest prices. Resorts, hotel, motel, rental cars and taxis are available in Langkawi. People here are very friendly and kind. They willingly help you if you in trouble.
Nowadays, Langkawi gives you one new attraction. The Langkawi Cable Car or Panorama Langkawi is a major attraction. It provides an aerial link from Burau Bay Resort at Teluk Burau to the peak of Gunung Mat Chinchang, the location of the Langkawi Sky Bridge. The total length is 2.2 km (1.4 miles). It was officially opened on 2003.

At the end, a foreign visitor will enjoy their trip to this amazing island that full with history and culture.

  80. y of the Malaysian population still live in a unhurried and rather charming and traditional lifestyle, where time seems to go at snails pace and the air clean and fresh. Treat yourself to a Kampung (village) Homestay in Malaysia. Be "adopted" by a family and be treated as a member of the family for the duration of your stay.

To get a better appreciation of the culture, you may wear traditional attire, go fishing in a river, play kites with the children, eat simple local food, observe local customs, architecture, and furniture and participate in village activities. As they are mostly a Muslim village, there is no alcohol and it is respectful to dress modestly. Many villages still rely on agriculture as their primary source of income.

With the Pahang Homestay Programme, you will get to experience life in a kampung, or traditional village. Leaving all your cultural baggage behind you can immerse yourself in a fascinating culture within the peaceful ambiance of a quaint and rustic Malay rural setting.

Guests will establish a bond with their friendly foster family and get acquainted with the village elders. Friendly children and accommodating neighbours will also help show you the rural way of life. And throughout your stay, they will get to know you and your culture, too. When you return home, you will bring back a memorable cultural experience and the thought that you will always have a family to welcome you whenever you return to Pahang.

The homestay programme in Pahang is also a way of ensuring that rural folks directly share the benefits of tourism. To ensure guests enjoy their stay, hosts observe high standards of cleanliness, safety and hospitality benchmarked by the authorities. The homestay programme was first developed in Pahang in the 1980s. It was an expansion of the student exchange programme, where a young Malaysian stayed with an adopted family of a different cultural programme. It was an extension of the programme mooted by the federal government in the 1970s with the main objective of promoting greater understanding among Malaysians who came from varied racial and religious backgrounds. It gained greater popularity when foreign students started to participate in the exchange programmes.

  83. Travelling is a good way to find out more about different countries with different traditions and customs. Some travellers prefer to spend in one country just a few days or one day and then leave for another country. This way of travelling allows people to visit more countries in fewer days. Unfortunately, in this case such travellers have to hurry in order to visit more places.
I think my biggest difficulty with some of the better-known South East Asian tourist destinations (not just Penang, though I think Penang was among the worst in this aspect) was that it was almost impossible to walk anywhere. You can’t really ‘experience’ a holiday destination – particularly on a short visit – from the inside of a taxi. The tourist has to drive a lot in our day-to-day lives, so they expect to be able to really relax and walk around on holiday.
While dodging the obstacles on the destroyed path along Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah (in contrast to the path along Jalan Kelawei) Batu Ferringhi seemed a familiar experience. It seems like the beaches don’t have quite enough people caring that they should be great places at which families can relax to prevent them being taken over by people racing speedboats and jet bikes up and down close to the shore, and people racing quad bikes on the sand. Those activities always mean that a tiny number of people monopolise the beach. Perhaps a few people running those businesses make a small amount of money, but I suspect the loss to the tourism industry from people who can’t enjoy a safe, peaceful holiday is far greater than that gain.
They would really enjoy eating the old places between the newer buildings. The old place between Tune Hotel and the new Food Court was the kind of thing they aren’t expected. Eating at the pasar malam on Gurney Drive was good too, but crossing the road outside was a bit of a nightmare. The laksa (with no plastic chairs, tables, bowls nor utensils!) near the T-junction below Kek Lok Si (so many elderly beggars) Temple was superb. They will see many temples perhaps a poor choice on their part. The kids were bored stiff, and even they were “uh-uh, more temple” by the end. They also will enjoy a trishaw ride.
On the subject of whose fault it is, they will honestly think that Penang should be honest (not finger-pointing) with tourists and rather than just provide a glossy list of attractions, some of which are shut or were photographed and described in what they can only imagine were better days, actually say that some places are either ‘undergoing repair’ or are ‘earmarked for badly needed restoration’ or such similar phrases whose real meaning will not be lost on visitors. The problem with marketing that doesn’t accurately describe reality is that it can raise expectations which leave a lasting bad impression if disappointed.
I think it would be interesting for tourists (and perhaps even for locals!) to see a comprehensive plan for Penang tourism that includes not only the highlights, but also those areas where planned improvements might make a return visit more likely.

  88. If I will bring the visitor that he should spent only one day in our country I will choose the Kuala Lumpur because it is the nearest and most interesting is in our main country. There are many places that we can found in the Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur is the most developed in our country, so we should show to our visitor that we also as develop as themselves.
The most interesting place that I should bring to the visitor is to PETRONAS Twin Towers forms the centrepiece of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), an intelligent precinct that serves as the beginning of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), a high tech area for companies. With a height of 1,453 feet, one of the world's tallest buildings rises above the skyline of Kuala Lumpur. The 88-storey gleaming two freestanding towers is connected by a sky bridge at the 41st floor. Situated within the towers is the PETRONAS Philharmonic Hall, the PETRONAS Art Gallery and Petrosains, an interactive science exhibition centre. That is because we should show to them that our country is also development country.
Second place is The KL Tower is a 421m high telecommunications and broadcasting tower which actually appears to be taller than the PETRONAS Towers, because it is built on a hill. Amidst the city of Kuala Lumpur stands the Menara Kuala Lumpur at 515m above sea level. It’s a joke, and everybody knows, that the PETRONAS Towers are the highest buildings in Kuala Lumpur. It also claims to house the highest McDonald's in the World. This tower has an observation deck, where you finally can manage to get a bird's eye view of the city.Menara Kuala Lumpur ranks fourth amongst the tallest telecommunications towers in the world and was constructed over a period of four years and completed in May 1996. Menara Kuala Lumpur is designed to withstand wind pressures of up to 90mph. The Kuala Lumpur tower also can show the development of our country.
Both of this place is the place that I think I will spent with my visitor because it is can show them our country is in more development and become wider. If they know that so they will not waste their time with indecision to comes again for going vocation at Malaysia.

Malaysia is unique because of its diversity of races, religions and cultures, the stability of the country and many places of interests. Besides, there are many international achievements which are the pride of our nation.

Diversity of races, religions and cultures is a significant characteristic of our nation. Malaysia is a multiracial country with a rich cultural heritage. Unique to Malaysia is the 'Open House' concept where during the various cultural and religious festival like Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Gawai Day and others, friends and families and even strangers would visit the homes of those who are celebrating the festival, to wish them well and enjoy the feast prepared by the hosts. Although the visitors may be from different races, they still can tolerate with each other and live under the same roof where they celebrate the festival together. This will help to strengthen the ties among themselves.

Moreover, the stability and peacefulness of Malaysia is also a uniqueness of us. We live harmoniously in a country where there are no wars and conflicts among Malaysians. War is dreadful and it may deteriorate humans' lives. We are fortunate that our country is safe and runs off the war. So, people can live safely here. Somehow, Malaysia is a paradise for those Iraqis or Pakistanis. Besides, our country is freed from natural disasters such as earthquakes. Earthquakes may bring death and destroy many buildings. Therefore, Malaysia is unique because of the stability and peaceful environment.

On top of that, there are many places of interests in country such as beaches, islands and rain forest. Pulau Langkawi has a lot of historitical informations. Those who are in favour of history can go there to explore the history of that place. All the beaches in those islands are beautiful. The sand is soft and white. The accommodation is well-established and that makes those islands ideal places to visit.

Following this, there are also international achievements of our country. Those achievements include the existence of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Formula One (F1) racing circuit and the Petronas Twin Towers. KLIA is unique because it has all that is needed for business, entertainment and relaxation within its boundaries. The airport is part and parcel of the Multimedia Super Corridor where high technology industries are being actively developed. Nevertheless, there is a Formula One Race Track near the airport, so foreign car racing enthusiasts from all over the world can come for a visit to gather here. Besides that, Petronas Twin Towers which is a building that soars 452 metres into the sky is once upon a time, the tallest building in the world and yet it is a national pride to the people of Malaysia.

In short, Malaysia is unique that it has diversity of races, religions and cultures, a stable and peaceful environment, places of interest and some internal achievements. Those are important characteristic of our nation. It is rich of cultural heritage; it would be worth to play a visit here.

  93. If a foreign visitor has only one day to spend in my country, I will suggest that he or she should relax at Merdeka Palace Hotel at one of hotel in the Kuching,Sarawak. This is because traveling in one day reinforces tiredness and wastes money while relaxing at hotel has everything.

The visitor will be tired, especially resulted from being in a plane for a long time. Any traveler has to face those boring and small space in the plane. The visitor also has to face new weather with which he or she is not fimiliar. Therefore, it's better to stay somewhere which offers relaxing climate.

Furthermore, traveling in one day can waste money as everything has to go on quickly. If I recommend the visitor to some place, there will always be another interesting thing to explore nearby. But as the visitor has a very limited time, the visitor cannot see something else which may be beneficial to him or her. For example, walk around the waterfront wherereas visitor can take a picture for a beautiful view of Sungai Rajang River. Beside that, the visitor can experience to use a boat and I thinks it is very precious moment for them to memorize.

Staying at hotel does not mean that the visitor cannot get a sense of traveling. There are many shops located in hotels. These shops always collect interesting local products to serve tourists. The visitor can also eat local food and watch television programs about local traveling sites which are in almost every restaurant at the Kuching.

While I realize that there are many places which are wonderful for tourist, one day is not enough for anyone to earn maximum benefits from traveling. Therefore, I recommend that the visitor should stay at hotel.

  94. A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

I would recommend the visitor to come to the Kinabalu National Park in Sabah, which is Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site. Located on the west coast of Sabah, east Malaysia on the island of Borneo, the park is one of the most popular tourist’s spots in Sabah and Malaysia in general.
Kinabalu Park is situated on the Crocker Range on the eastern coast of Sabah. It is located within the district of Ranau. The park is not to be confused with the Crocker Range National Park which is a separate park in the south. The park headquarters is 88 kilometers away from the city of Kota Kinabalu. There are highways and sealed roads to the park headquarters from other parts of Sabah. Chalets are the form of accommodation that can be found in the park, mostly around the headquarters.
If the visitor wants to make a reservation for accommodation and mountain climbing guides, he can arrange it through the Sutera Sanctuary Lodges. Companion by qualified guide is a must for every person who wishes to climb the mountain.
I am very sure that the visitor will be amazed when he sees the botanical site in the Kinabalu Park. It contains a variety flora and fauna ranges over 4 climates zones. The parasitic Rafflesia plant, which has the largest single flower in the world, together with over 800 orchid species can be found in the botanical site of the Kinabalu Park.
Rare animal species such as the Kinabalu Giant Red Leech and Kinabalu Giant Earthworm also can be found in the park. In addition, variety of birds, insects, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles is available to be viewed by the visitor if he visits the park.
If the visitor wishes to climb the Mount Kinabalu, he would need more than a day because every climber needs to stay for a night on the last station before continue climbing the mountain peak early in the next morning. Thus I wouldn’t recommend him to do so.
To conclude, I would like to say that Kinabalu Park has its “outstanding universal value” and the role as one of the most important biological sites in the world will make any tourist to re-visit it again after their first experience.
