  1. There is no doubt that every student wants to get excellent marks on their report cards. I agree with the statement that grades encourage students to learn. I believe this because grades make the students to work hard; grades help the students to know about their grip on certain courses; and grades help the students to make decisions about their future studies.
First, students work hard to get good grades. Students work harder to improve their weak subjects. When a student gets better scores in a subject, he knows that he has the ability of more improvement in that subject. Therefore, he works harder to reach his goal. For example, in my high school, I was not good in the subject of chemistry. I got very bad grades in the beginning of the session. My chemistry teacher bought positive attitude to me and encouraged me to work harder. I did that and then I got better grades in the middle of the session. It encouraged me to work harder and I got very good grades in the final exam. Good grades encourage students to work harder.
Second, students figure out about their capabilities by looking at the grades in their report cards. If there is no grading system, the students would not know that in which subjects they need to work hard and on which subjects they have strong command. They cannot figure out which subject needs more attention. As an example, I used to think that Pharmacology is a very tough subject for me and I am good in the subject of math, but after looking at my report cards I realized that I am getting good grades in Pharmacology. However, the subject of Math needs more attention of mine. Mark on report cards help us a lot to know about the areas of studies which need our more attention.
Third, students plan their future field of studies by looking at their grades. They pursue their studies confidently and successfully in the subjects in which they got better grades in the past. For instance, one of my friends had wanted to become a doctor, but after looking at her grades she realized that she was better in art subjects. Therefore, she planned her degree of masters in the subject of arts and got a gold medal. Grades encourage students to study in the area in which they feel that they will get good grades in the future.
In conclusion, Grades support students to study because students work hard to get good grades. By looking at the grades, they figure out their weaknesses. Grades also help them to make decisions about their futures studies.

  2. LAN 1001 : English Language Writing Assignment
Assignment : Grades encourage students to learn.

It's obviously right that all the students would be very happy to get good grades so in my opinions, it's very right for me to say grades encourage students to learn. I recall my first English lesson was very interesting. The teacher asked me to write something about my hobbies, and I wrote about my dear cat, she gave me a good mark with the comment that: "Your made a good essay, it is clear and lively" I was so happy and at that moment, I thought that I was not bad at English, then naturally, English became my favorite subject at school.

Yes your grades are very important as you need good grades all through your school life to get into college and university. It was the story at the primary school, at present; teachers do not give many marks in University anymore. We only get final grades a semester, and that grade tells students how good and how hard did they work last semester. Normally, all the students expect to get good grades because with good grades they can have a good diploma after graduation, they can apply for the higher programmed easier and further on, it is also useful to find a suitable job.

However, it is not only getting good grades which encourages students to learn. If a student learnt hard just for getting a good grade he would never become an excellent student indeed. It is important to learn to achieve good grades in the University but it is more important to learn how to except the bad grades. In a letter written by Abraham Lincoln to the Headmaster of a school in which his son was studying, he wrote" In school, teach him it is far more honorable to fall than to cheat..... Teach to have faith in his own ideas, even if everyone tells him he is wrong" So I think, becoming a good person is far more important than becoming just a good grades collector.

Grades measure your ability to follow the mechanical direction your teacher has outlined for acquiring knowledge. But let's face it; grades in our system often do not measure effort. They measure accomplishment, and your grade may not reflect the accomplishment in a class as you may have acquired the skill or knowledge in a previous class. You may be just naturally smart.

So, what measures your skill in learning? The degree of your goodness and happiness. I know it is a bold assertion to say that people who are the best at learning are the happiest. It certainly does not mean they are protected from trouble. And please note, I did not say, people who know the most or have the most degrees. Some of the people who know the most in terms of academic subjects are the least happy, the least wise. Some of the best people have little academic training, but they have learned. Generally speaking, though, the more you know how to learn and how to love learning the happier you will be.

Finally, as soon as being a student, in my point of view, good grades really help to encourage student to learn, but to be successful in life, to be happy let learn and work with the sound of your heart. In short, I am suggesting that the beginning of this semester is a great time to reconceive of your role as a student, to look at your past performance in learning and playing the education game and to set your sights a little higher for the future.

Grades is the main topics that students always talked about, not only in Malaysia but around the worlds talked about this issues is it important that grades is so important for students to go to further the studies in Malaysia and overseas also. With this I agree that grades should take serious issues for the students but to parents also, must alert about his or her child. It so important because without good greed they will miss the opportunities to further studies and get career after graduates.
The ministry of education have received new intake to the education, and they can continues studies with better places and good accommodations. So they only the want is students with good greed but balances with the subject or course they take. With that it encourages more students to work so hard to get these opportunities to get higher education. They have reasons that ministry of education to do that it is because they have a lot of students’ archived good greed in the schools and the ministry and other colleges were full with students and don’t have places for new intake. So they try to choose better students to fulfill the places with higher greed, because they only want the qualities and not the quantities.
With it is easy for them just choose the better students only from the greed in the schools; the greed also shows that students can take the course and continues studies the places they desired. For the universities it shows that they places only take the best students and shows the places that they can get good qualities of students after graduates. It makes the places becomes more famous because can delivered good qualities of students from the places by get good in marking of papers and greed that they get from the slips of education.
So it improves that with this system of greed students will works hard to get higher greed in exams so they can improved better to get distinction in the papers so easy for them to get chances to continues studies in others places but also easy to get an opportunities to get works and sponsorship from any kind of places likes Sime Darby, PETRONAS, Hospital and others places with this certificates of greed make them easy to get a works anywhere they wants.
It improves that the greed is so important to students to works hard to get marking in greed also can qualified with higher education’s, so I hope students achieved much better in exam so they don’t miss to get distinction in greed in every times to get slips of exam.

  4. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

What is so important about grades? Report cards have been a part of the educational experience for decades. They are essential to informing parents of student progress and traditionally serve as the overall measure of assessment of a child’s success in school. Elementary school report cards often include a list of subjects, work habits, and conduct areas followed by the letter grade the child earned in each area. Schools may require a teacher to attach comments, but these comments typically vary in length and thoroughness.

Every parent wants to boast that his or her child is “a straight A student,” “at the top of her class,” or “on the honor roll.” What generally determines this prized status? Grades. Most often, report cards are the primary means of measuring a child’s progress through school. Doing “well” in school is measured by a series of letters on a piece of paper: A is great; B is ok; C, not so great; and D or F? You’re grounded! Some parents reward children for good grades, ascribing a monetary value to each good letter, or taking away privileges for each bad one. For many families, the grade is the goal.

But what do those letters really mean? And do they really do any good?
Many researchers, educators and parents are now questioning the purpose and effectiveness of grades. Certainly parents deserve to know how their children are doing in school, and student’s benefit from understanding how they are performing; but how that progress is communicated can have a great impact on how a child learns.

To put it positively, students who are lucky enough to be in schools where they don’t get letter or number grades are more likely to want to continue exploring whatever they’re learning, more likely to want to challenge themselves, and more likely to think deeply. The evidence on all of these effects is very clear, and it seems to apply to students of all ages.

As far as I can tell, there are absolutely no benefits of giving grades to balance against these three powerful negative consequences – except that doing so is familiar to us and doesn’t take much effort.

  5. Now days, the students are involve in study competition like a rat races to get high grades in their exams. The grades could encourage students to learn more regarding the subjects and it will help to educate effectively our students. In my opinion, I am agree the statement of grades are encourage the student to study well. Let me explain of the reasons this statement.
Firstly, the marks are encouraging students to do revision. Especially for the students with higher grades and lower grades. However, as research on the education indicated that grades could let students clearly understand their performance and let them know their advantage and disadvantage. This will help the student to upgrade their level in academic.
The grades are making the person to know his level and talent. The teacher can understand each student's talent. An example, some students may be good at academic thinking, such as mathematics, physics, biology, science, languages subjects and the others may like in sports, such as badminton, foot ball, baseball and tennis. From these grades, the teacher can give different advice to different student.
Other than, the grades will make the students and their parents proud. An example, If a student takes 7A’s in SPM, Their parent will be proud with their child result. The parents are always helped their child for increase their grade and help them to go through it. Each time there went through this difficulty and had more confidence on their studies.
Further more, well scored graduation can make the way for their study be success. The good marks are giving chances to get a better job or continue to high education such as, college or university. Universities and the fresh graduates are more inclined to give the opportunities to achieve the with better grades. This reasons also very important one to learn more and get higher grades.
As a conclusion, I agree that grading will be give success part of educational assessment in the future. The grades are students , it is can encourage students to learn and knowledge. It can help students realize their talents and find out their disadvantages.

  6. I definitely think that good grades encourage a student to learn more. Given the increasing competitiveness among the students and a desire to excel in future by getting admission to top and renowned schools, colleges and universities, good grade surely is an important criterion and to achieve good grade, a student is encouraged to study hard and learn more.
I think that good grade is an incentive for diligent students who often engage themselves to studying hard to achieve that grade. For example when a student finds his friend to have received a commendable grade and is showered with praise and affections by his teacher, a desperate desire often creates in his subconscious mind. He also unknowingly wants to be like him and acquire the grade his friend has received. In this way, a healthy competition is often developed among all the fellow students who equally want to outshine the other by ameliorating their respective grades. In this way, they get to learn more and more things. In fact they often indulge themselves to extensive library works and other reference books and similar items from where they all seek to learn that extra little bit as compared to his friend. Good grades thus indirectly pave the way for the overall learning process of a student and help him to be more sound academically.
Secondly, these days competition has reached to a high extent and it has really become difficult for the faculties to winnow out the students. So the only option they are left with is Grade of a student which serves as a tool to select them for admission to a good and accredited school, college and university. Now when this grade becomes the decisive factor for a student to get admitted to a school, college or university they long for, they are also left with no other option but to increase their marks and improve their grades. Now in order to improve their grade the only way is to learn, learn and only learn.
To sup up, I think there is no doubt that grades encourage students to learn, gain more experience, knowledge, be more self-confident and persistent. Moreover, I am sure that these
small victories will help students to win and succeed in the future.

  7. From my everyday experience and observation I can stand that grades are very good indicators of knowledge. For several reasons that I will mention below and I believe that grades encourage students to learn.

First of all, grades show students’ knowledge. If a person gets a high grade on an exam it means that he or she understands that subject very well. Otherwise, if a student gets a low grade on an exam it means that he does not understand it completely. Personally, when I get a lower grade on an exam then I expected I know that I could be better prepared. So, next time I will spend more time and efforts to fix my lack of knowledge and do my best on the exam. In this case low grades encourage me to learn more. I try to analyze my mistakes and avoid them next time. Also, I try to arrange my time more effectively. I know exactly that I can do better than that, so I collect all my strength and focus on the incoming exam. It is like a new goal or obstacle that one should overcome in order to continue her path. When finally I get a higher grade on an exam I feel satisfaction and I am proud of myself. I think it is a great feeling. I feel stronger, more self-confident and patient. I think these qualities are essential for a person who wants to achieve something and succeed in the future.

Second of all, students have some kind of competition among each other for higher grades. When a student gets a higher grade then another one, the second student asks himself: “Why do not I have this grade? Is it something wrong with me? Is that person better than me? “. I think every student at least one time asked themselves this question.

As a conclusion, I think there is no doubt that grades encourage students to learn, gain more experience, knowledge, be more self-confident and persistent. Moreover, I am sure that these small victories will help students to win and succeed in the future.

  11. Grade can make the student become better.

In the school all the students were been level by followed their performance in the school. The entire subject must be passing to make sure they will in good class and it also make the student be more alert to maintain in their study. When the entire student be more alert in their study, they will always try they best to make sure they in the same level with the other students.
It always encourages them to learn more serious in all subject that they take so that they will not left behind by their friends. When they know the grade of the subject had been change all the student will upgrade their performance so that they will in good position in the school. If the school not update the grade all the subject in the school, the entire student will be careless because they feel comfortable with their condition in that time.
If there does not have any grade in the study there will not have the standard in the quality of the student because the entire teacher cannot different the student level between the entire student in that school.

  12. Grading inhibits constructive evaluation. Evaluation of student performance is essential, but it should serve to promote student learning. Ideally, the evaluation process would help students discover their weaknesses and ways to improve upon and achieve important goals. I agree that grades encourage students to learn and perform better. Grades are the indicators of the progress made by the student and improvements needed. High grades motivate and encourage pupil to work harder and achieve still higher grades and goals. Furthermore grades indicate as to in what areas student needs to work harder in order to improve. This enables the student to work hard, prepare well for the examination and pass out. This enables student to achieve the goal.
In fact is that student's competitive nature, which is inspired by grades, will at the same time stimulate learning more knowledge? Human beings are always longing for winning. The willing to have the highest score in class intimates many students to work harder and harder. During the process of competition, all the students get improvement. Had there not been marks, students would not have such motivation to study.
Furthermore, for every student, his score in each subject tells him about his competence in that field, as well as reflects how hard he studied on it. Although this result is good or bad, it encourages the student to learn harder. If a student got a good mark, he felt proud of his result, which brought him the commendation of his teacher and the admiration from his friends. Consequently, he would try more to get at least the same grade in the next semester. On the other hand, students with bad scores have to make further efforts in order not to lag behind. In a word, as grades are a mirror of students’ performance, they motivate students to learn more.
In university or any college, all the students expect to get good grades because with good grades they can have a good diploma after graduation, they can apply for the higher programmers easier and further on, it is also useful to find a suitable job.

To summarize, it is a common notion that a high grade reveals good qualification and hard practice of a student. Thus all students try their best to achieve the highest marks. I agree that grades promote students to learn due to the following reasons.

Moreover, a good final grade at university becomes the least criterion for students to either find a good job or go to further study. The higher the final scores are, the more the chances opened to them will be. I, for example, regret that I did not try my best at university to get an excellent grade, which would give me an opportunity to pursue PhD programs bypassing a master course. Therefore, the best grade should become a goal of any student attending college, which in turn acts as an impetus to his harder studying.
In conclusion, grade does not encourage the students to learn in a correct way and many shortages do exist in this system. Not only should we search for a top grade, but also a future of further education.

  15. ESSAY 14
Grade is an assessment of the kind of work a student has done. Teachers usually judge students on the basis of their grades. A good student certainly has better grades than a bad student. Students also judge their capability on the basis of the grades they are given. Better grades indicate better work. I completely agree that grades do encourage the students to learn and work more.

Through my experience, I have received various grades in my school life, such as tests, quizzes or assignments. In my case, the results of those works definitely encouraged me, and I believe grades encourage students to learn. There are some reasons and I will explain them in this essay.

First of all, competitions make people to get improved. In general, people enjoy sports and they also like to compete their scores, for instance, in baseball or football. Studying is the same as doing sports. If students get a higher grade than a friend, they would be happy and study more. And also, the students who got lower score might feel sad, but more eagerly study to get higher the next time.

Secondly, students always need to know their position. If they do not have any result after a semester, they have no idea they worked well or even understood. They need to know the grade to understand how they achieved in the subject.

Finally, it is necessary to grade students to get into the school or college. It might be controversial, but I think grades or GPA is fare for all students so that admission offices can take into consideration the grades as one of the applications. Obviously, most students want to go to better school or college for their carrier and simply study hard to get high grades.

In conclusion, some people might have different opinions; however, I strongly agree with the statement. Grades encourage students to learn because competition makes them to get improved, and it is important to know the position in their classroom. Moreover, grades are efficient system to get into the school or college. I think grades will never disappear in education.Grades develop a competitive spirit among students. When I see my friends getting better grades in a subject, even I am compelled to work more and get good grades. It's human nature to want everything that others have. Better grades show the interest a student has in a particular subject. Sincerity towards work increases and self confidence boosts up.

  16. We have target in our life. No matter what we are doing, we need a target of achievement. Student also needs a target regarding their grades or marks in examination. This system of grading marks had been used for many years. I agree that this grading system is very useful in order to encourage students to learn and try to get the highest marks.

By follows standard grading system, students able to know their standard and level of achievement. They also can realize about their weakness in the subject. So they able to plan which subject that they need to study more. It will encourage them to study harder to get the better marks. As an example, if student get 90 marks in English and only 50 marks in mathematics, they realize that they need to focus more on mathematics.

Teachers and parents also can know student’s level of achievement. They also can help students in different way in order to help them get better result such as by giving more exercise, buy for a exercise books or give them present if they passing exam with the good marks.

Healthy competition among students also will encourage them to learn better. In the classroom, they will try the best to get the highest marks. They also can do discussion among each other. Best students in English will conduct English discussion. It goes same for the other subject. Discussion is a good way of learning. They can help among each other and get the relationship more closure.

Besides that, grading system can help students to choose the field for further study. If students good in mathematics, they can choose to continue in science stream or accounts which is more on calculation based subject. Students also can be placed in the classroom follow on their standard marks. It is very proud to be in the first class. So all students will try their best and work for it.

For the conclusion, grading and marking scheme are helping students to learn in order to get the best for their study and work for bright future. It is standardize and student will be judge using the same way.

  17. 14. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Grades in general take away from the learning process, I think. We are so pressured to do well to achieve that high GPA that we become overwhelmed, stressed and strive to fit a meld that is essentially impossible to achieve. Because we are so stressed, we have a hard time concentrating on current tasks because we are thinking about our exam tomorrow or our paper that is due at midnight. It does motivate us to do hard work but we just find the loop holes, depend upon curves and grades sometimes even push people to cheat.
A good grade gives hope and opportunities of achieving dream. It is possible that a student who get great grade can attend the first-class university for their further study. It will enhance our job and promotion opportunities after graduate from top university especially under our competitive society. The grade as a way to evaluate people’s performance also gives us an equal surrounding to live.
It is not only getting good grades which encourages students to learn. If a student learnt hard just for getting a good grade they would never become an excellent student indeed. It is important to learn to achieve good grades in the University but it is more important to learn how to except the bad grades. A target to accomplish which stick them to focus on their studies and allows them to learn, the interest of students in the studies lies in the fact that that they work hard to get good grades. This is good as long it encourage them to learn.
Students indulge themselves into studies to achieve better scores and grades because a good grade requires much greater efforts from student’s part. When a student is determined to get a highly good grade they are encouraged to study hard to achieve the goal, once the goal is accomplished a good student is motivated to get a remarkable grade further. Thus getting good grades require persistent hard work, and patience but the results are outstanding and spectacular.
In conclusion, grades can encourage students to learn. It can help students realize their talents and find out their disadvantages. Without grades, how could a student clearly understand themselves? Should be fair and inhibit constructive evaluation. Evaluation of student performance is essential, and it should serve to promote student learning. Ideally, the evaluation process would help students to identify their weaknesses and take appropriate ways to improve upon and achievement of important goals.

  18. Do you agree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Examination is important to measure the ability and knowledge of the students. It is measured by grades or marks to determine the level of understanding among students. Each level of education is different and will change according to level such as Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), diploma or degree. These will calculated by grades and at the same time it will encourage students to learn more to achieve their target. There is no doubt that grades will make students more focus and eager to learn to get flying colours result in their examination.
Students will be more focus and study harder to make sure they achieve their target. They know that good grades will help them to successful in their life after school or to find a job later. When a marking scheme is improved indirectly students will take a precaution steps to achieve their goals. Maybe, some people may said that grades and marks will tensed the students and disturb their attention but it is not true because this brings more benefits to the students themselves.
Besides that, grades help students to determine their level and from that they will improve their selves to achieve better marks on examinations. When the students know their level and limit in education aspect, it will motivate them to work harder to improve and get flying colours result for their examinations. They will learn more and at the same time, they will be able to manage their time to study and this may avoid them to involve in negative activities outside school period.
Furthermore, grades or marks will help students to set their goals to grab a chance to become the best students not only in their schools but also in this country. They also will get other opportunity to success in their life by get the sponsorship to continue their study abroad. Moreover, when the students get the highest grades in examinations, they will automatically motivate their selves to be better than before and it also encourages them to work harder.
To sum up, grades encourage students to learn and indirectly improve student’s level of knowledge and understanding. When the students achieve the flying colours result in examinations, they will motivate themselves to get better than that and they will try to achieve the best position in their school. Grades are important to maintain school performance and determine the students’ achievement that may help students to success in their career later.

  19. Question 14: Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
As we know that education is one of the important factors in the development of every country. Therefore, many suggestions have been applied to improve effectively the quality of education and help the students have better scholastic achievements. I believe that grading students is also a good ways to encourage them to learn harder.
Other than that, grade (mark) can make students to motivate their life and study to achieve the target. Having good grades helps the students to find better jobs in future. For example, if a company looks into the resumes of two students, it is obviously that the student who has the better scholastic achievement will receive more attention. Getting higher marks proves that he has an appropriate method to study, or maybe he is more intelligent than the other student. Hence, he will work for the company more effectively. Therefore, he may be offered an important position with a higher salary.
Furthermore if the students have good grades, they will receive a lot of affection from their parents, their relatives and their acquaintances. It can make students interesting to study and try to get better result. A student, who has better scholastic results, will receive the fondness of other people. He becomes his parents' pride. He will be provided with the best conditions to get better education. This is the motive for him to learn harder and harder.
Grading students appears to be the only method available at the moment to measure the students' abilities in study. At universities, there are often many students in each class. Thus, the professors can only evaluate them by tests and examinations. Looking at their test marks, students are able to know which subjects they are good at and which subjects they need to improve. Moreover, in the final exams, the professors will give them problems that cover all of things that they have learned in that term, or even including the knowledge of former terms. If they concentrate on what their teachers teach, review at home and read more books in the libraries, they will get the highest grades. In reverse, the students who do not usually attend classes and use their time at home for other activities, will receive lower marks. If they fail, they have to pay more money and time to study these courses again. Therefore, students must try hard to get the best grades.
To sum up, for me grades is important for student. It can give many benefits to student to make them achieve their target.

  20. Definitely, grade is a good method to evaluate students. If a student got a good mark, he felt proud of this result, which brought him commendation of his teachers, parents and get admiration from his friends. Consequently, he would try more to get at least the same grade in the next semester. On the contrary, students with bad score have to pay more attention in order not to lag behind. Now some schools give their students same grade in one group. What is the difference between getting grade and not getting if everyone gets the same grade? In a word, as grade are a mirror of students’ performance, they motive students learn more.

First of all, students’ grades (marks) are given by a designed testing and scoring system with relatively objective criterions. Helping students know their weakness and advantage by marking is one of the core functions of the system. The high marks show the knowledge which is well grasped, while the low ones reflect some parts we have to improve. For an example in Malaysian University English Test (MUET), the poor score in “Speaking” shown that my oral needed improvement. So practicing speaking became more important in preparation of the test this time. It is the grades that help students know themselves better and make more effort to strengthen their weakness.

Another equally essential fact that student’s competitive nature, which is inspired by grades (marks), will at the same time stimulate learning more knowledge. Human beings are always longing for winning. The willing to have the highest score in class intimates many students to work harder and harder. During the process of competition, all the students get improvement. Had there not been marks, students would not have such motivation to study.

In some cases, marks can not reflect students’ knowledge. Some lazy students can do corrupt practices and cheats. Meanwhile, some good students can only do their worst on the exam day as they are in physical or mental problems. Grades are only essential when they are used for distinguishing honest students.
It is necessary to grade students to get into the school or college. It might be controversial, but I think grades or GPA is fare for all students so that admission offices can take into consideration the grades as one of the applications. Obviously, most students want to go to better school or college for their carrier and simply study hard to get high grades.

In conclusion, some people might have different opinions, however, I strongly agreed with the statement. Grades encourage students to learn because competition makes them to get improved and it is important to know the position in their classroom. Moreover, grades are efficient system to get into the school or college. I think grades will never disappear in education.

  21. Grades [marks] encourage student to learnt
Some teachers think that giving good marks encourage and motivate student to perform well in future while other think that giving low grades help students to perform well and encourage them to struggle more in achieving good marks in this way student can get more successful in life. According to my opinion i am agree with the statement that good Grades encourage students to learn.

Firstly, i would like to describe the point that every student has different nature and physiology. Every student thinks in a different way. some has positive attitude about the things happening and some have negative opinion. While giving a grades to student teacher must consider what kind of nature a student has. Does his/her grading effect students whole career. I myself is a tuition teacher of secondary classes. One of my student is really dump in her studies. She always try to run from studies. I motivated her and showed strictness with her in a study matter. when the result came she cleared all the courses but she didn't get very good grades but still it is surprised for us that she has cleared her exam. After that I usually tried to give good marks more than she deserves just to motivates and encourages her to do even more good in studies. This idea works she has started taking interest in studies. Then i organized an event and gave a certificate to her for improving a lot in academic skills. Now she is not only taking interest in studies but she becomes ambitious also. I think if i discourage her by giving low grades to her then she will never take interest in studies.

Secondly, Student should never expect high because high expectation always discourage them. They should be ready for everything. They must evaluate their mistakes by their grades. If they ever thinker that marking or grades are really unfair. He/She is even much more capable of getting good grades so on then he/she wont be get success in their whole life.

In last i would like to conclude that positive and good result encourage and motivate students to do even more good in exams and in career rather than negative or bad grades. So Teacher should be bit linens to those students who has ability to improve themselves.

  22. By the time changes, there is only one fact has no change which is the grades. Grades or marks are a measurement to identify or differentiate one’s capacity of learning or the stage of a person. In the education system, grade is like a sweet and at the same time it is also a poison. The reason I said so is because the advantage and disadvantage of a student is clearly show to the parents and the teacher. But, I was agree to the statement which grades (marks) encourage student to learn. The below is my point.
Firstly, grades could let students clearly understand their performance and let them know their advantage and disadvantage. Although grade can increase their stress but it also can be an impetus of learning. For example, when I was received my SPM trial result I was very upset because some of the subject is out of my expectation. The day after received the result, I was more focus on the particular subject and do more practice on it. Finally, I have score that subject in the SPM examination although not an excellent grade but it has shown the improvement compared to the before examination.
Second of all, grades could also let the teachers to know our status of study. Everyone are not the same even a pair of identical twins. Each one will have their own talent. From there, teachers can help to improve their weak point and strengthen their strong point. For example, I was more pro in the Mathematic subject and weak in the English language. So, the teacher will pay more attention on the English subject than Mathematics. Other than that, some of the students are good in sport then teacher can train the student become an athlete.
Furthermore, parent can understand how their child’s performance through the grades. Parents also can be a good supervisor and advisor. Although the education level of my parents is not so high but they are willing to take part and discuss the strategies in term to improve my study. So, grade is like an indicator which can help a person clearly know that where am we stand.
To sum up, grade can encourage student to learn. A student should never forget that main goal of learning is not for getting high grades but is to obtain knowledge.

  23. Nowadays, while the world full of the knowledge, people now on is the slave of erudite. There are a lot of sign to show an excellent in their result for the exam, test and else especially grade .Almost known grades is just one means by which to reveal the gem at the centre of our life. There are a lot of perspectives in this topic. I’m on the right hand side, quite agree that the grade be able to inspiring students to be competitive in the arena of knowledge. It cannot be denied that, the importance of grades play a large role in determining the direction of a person the right of students to the field with the approval of a student who has been played.
Reflecting this fact, hundreds of institutions racing to take generations of excellent quality in the grades that they’ve hold. As the nation competitive in the circulation of knowledge, thrust questions about the results of tests or examinations to be more easily answered by simply giving the results in terms of grades that have been recorded in a busy student report card. The superior of some student that is located to the achievement of a grade A + in a test or exam they grab. So that no wonder if the student will study hard to strive the straight A in academic to achieved the success in examination and future.
The grades in the schools or universities are important in order to determine the good and poor student in academic. The good students will try the best to improve their performance, while the poor student the teacher will give the attention more than the good student. The grades also can be as a guide for the student and teacher to determine the stream that suitable for the student according their level of performance in academic. The choosing of stream after the public examination is very important in order to ensure that student is in bright future.
In conclusion, I was strongly agree that the grades help much student to encourage them in academic performance. The student will feel determination to get the best grade for their examination to full fill the requirement in qualification that required for them to continue study.

  24. Question 14
Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
I agree fully with the above statement. I am the student and I study just to pass examinations with good marks. It seems the same with my schoolmates. We are all only concerned with examinations. We do not study other things that do not require us to sit for examinations.
The reason that we do not study other things is because we have no time for them. School subjects take up all our time in school and much of our time out of school. Every day we have to learn so many things whether we like it or not. Lessons continue one after the other with hardly a break. Our brains switch from history to geography to mathematics to science unceasingly. We manage most of the time, but sometimes it gets so tiring. For me, any initial interest I have in any subject is quickly killed off by the sheer amount of information I have to absorb. No one is allowed to learn at his or her own pace. Everyone is force fed a diet of information regardless whether he or she can cope with it or not.
Then there is always the next examination around the corner. Since very young we have been taught this: passing an examination is good, failing is very bad. We are expected to pass. Our parents, teachers and all grownups applaud us when we pass. If we fail, we are made to feel worthless. I , myself had been caned by my father because I got red marks in my report card.
No one wants to be considered worthless or be punished for failure, but that is what the world is. So we become obsessed with examinations. We study because we do not want to fail. I have heard some teachers says that we should study acquire knowledge. Knowledge is considered something precious. It is all very well and idealistic to say such things but I do not see anyone practising it. The only knowledge I acquired in my years in school is that if I fail I am finished. I have to pass.
That is how feel. For some of my classmates who cannot cope with the workload, they simply give up studying. They are already marked as failures by the teachers so they see no point in studying anymore. I do not fall in that category. I still study and do my homework as diligently as I can, but I do these things with only one thing in mind and that is: I have to pass my examinations.
So the students study very hard indeed. Passing means success in the world. Failure is unspeakable. The fact remains that they study not for the sake of knowledge but only so that they can pass the examination. I am no different from them.

  25. Do you think grades which are by giving marks to the student that may encourage them to learn? From my view, I do agree with this statement because most of the students like the rewards. Grades or marks are like rewards for them in their work. Other than that, it can be a motivation for the student to keep learn and work hard in their study. For me, I would like the teacher grades myself in my study. From the grades, I would know the level of my achievement in the study. As we know, grades are very important in the examination. It will show either the student is passing or failed.
Besides that, the student needs some encouragement by the teacher to learn. While at home, the parent is always give some encouragement by praising their children and give some motivation to their student. But, while the children at the school, they needs some encouragement such as a rewards by the teacher to increase their spirit in learning process. Everyday, the students attend to the school with their aim to learn. Each of the subjects has the objective that required the student to understand the topic at the end of the learning session. So, the teacher will give some homework which is exercise and grades them as well.
The other way the teacher will grades their student by giving a group work. The teacher will mark them according to the student’s team work, creativity and the contents. From that activity, the student will have a spirit to fight with each other in order to get better grades. Team work is very important because we can share our knowledge and information among each other. Moreover, the student can do some discussion according to the topic given. It will help them to get better understanding through the subject that has been taught.
In my positive aspect, grades is very good therapy for keep the student to learn. Grades will give a good impact based on the result of the student. In sport field, the marks or grades will be given to the player as a reward for them in the tournament. Where ever competition, the winner will be announced according to the scored. No matter what, grade is very useful for the student to keep learning.
In short, I agree with the statement grades can encourage the students to learn. Parent and teacher is the best person to grade us as well by observing and motivate our self to learn. As a student, we must appreciate our teacher and parent because they are willing to grades us without any limit.

  26. QUESTION 14

I definitely think that good grades encourage a student to learn more. Given the increasing competitiveness among the students and a desire to excel in future by getting admission to top and renowned schools, colleges and universities, good grade surely is an important criterion and to achieve good grade, a student is encouraged to study hard and learn more.
Second of all, students have some kind of competition among each other for higher grades. When a student gets a higher grade then another one, the second student asks himself: “Why do not I have this grade? Is it something wrong with me? Is he better then me? “. I think every student at least one time asked himself this question.
To sup up, I think there is no doubt that grades encourage students to learn, gain more experience, knowledge, be more self-confident and persistent. Moreover, I am sure that these small victories will help students to win and succeed in the future.

  27. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Since the previous until now, the grades system is still available for the student. In my view, I can stand that grades are very good indicators of knowledge. I believe that grade is encouraged for all students to learn much better. The grades make every student is study hard and smart to achieve their best result. So, the grades is influencing for student to get the excellent mark in the studying.

Firstly, the grades can show student’s knowledge and level of really for successful in their studies. Furthermore if a student gets high grade on an examination it means that they are understands that subject very well. Otherwise, if a student gets a low mark on an exam it means that he does not understand it completely. Personally, I judge my learning process through my examination results. Even though I try my best but still get the low marks, that means my knowledge is still down. So I need to study hard more.

In one hand, all of students have some kind of competition among each other for higher grades. When a student gets a higher marks then another one, the second student can think that he can do also. So, the positive attitudes make the students more excellent and studies together for sharing the knowledge among them. Furthermore, the student’s spirit is become after the successful of others.

Last but not least, the grades system is serves as a tool to select them for admission to a good and accredited school, college and university. When this grade becomes the decisive factor for a student to get admitted to a school, college or university they long for, they are also left with no other option but to increase their marks and improve their grades. The selection of student is depends on the grades because it’s representative of students knowledge and the talented in the academic studies.

In sump up, I think there is no doubt that grades encourage students to learn, gain more experience, knowledge, be a more self-confident and persistent. Moreover, I am sure that these small victorious will help students to win and succeed in the future. All of students also can show the best performance in their studies to keep in successful and brilliant.

  28. QUESTION 14
Good grades thus indirectly pave the way for the overall learning process of a student and help him to be sounder academically.

  29. There are several factors that encourage students to study harder. Some people say that grades are not useful for encouraging students to study. On the other hand, others say that grades are a primary motivator in pushing students to try harder. I support the second group of people because competing for grades helps students learn more and because grades help students measure themselves compared to a standard.
First of all, competing for grades can give students more motivation to learn. Competing with classmates helps students learn more knowledge of the subjects they study. They study more hours, do their homework more carefully and read more books in order to obtain higher grades. Sometimes, students might not be sure how much they should be studying for a subject. However, if they see their grades compared to the grades of other students, it can give them an idea of how much work they need to do. If their grade is lower than the average grade of others that is a good clue that they need to be studying more. In this way, the students will not fall behind. If their grade is higher than the average, they will know that they are doing a good job, which will encourage them to study even more. Their grade will also encourage them to study more to achieve the same level.
In addition, grades enable students to measure themselves. The testing mechanism helps students find weak points or blind spots in their studies; thus this stimulates students to work harder. When students know that a certain percentage is required in order to pass the class, they will work towards the grade. If there is no standard, students may be lazy because they are not worried about reaching a certain percentage. No one likes to be last in the class, so if there is some sort of system of measurement, students will try to go as high up on that scale as possible. Without a grading system, students will most likely do the minimum amount of work needed to get by. However, it students can see that they are lacking in some area, they will surely make an effort to make up for the deficiency. This type of motivation is what inspires students to do well in their studies and to learn as much as possible.
In summary, it is true that grades can encourage students to learn more in their courses. They do this by instilling a spirit of cooperation among classmates and by giving students a method of measuring their strengths and weaknesses. These two benefits motivate students to do the best that they can, which is a good habit to carry into their adult lives.

  30. It is well known that most students care about grades and that nearly all of modern countries take grades as an important role to assess students' performances. I definitely agree that grades (marks) encourage students to learn because grades ensure fairness, examine studying effect and provide an environment of competition.

First, grade-centred evaluation systems, although imperfect, provides a just and fair chance for all of the students to get A better education. For instance, during the annual national college-entrance examination in China, enormous numbers of senior high students take part. No matter which province they are from, what financial situations their families have, each student has the opportunity to enter desirable colleges as long as they obtain high scores. On the contrary, without exams, many students and their families would lose faith in the university selection process, and accuse authorities of corruption.

Secondly, grades (marks) are not only valuable as a kind of criterion, they also help both teachers and students to check up how well they have been taught or studied in a certain period. For teachers, they can instruct those students who get poor grades in time, and encourage those who get higher ones to accept more challenging tasks. Students will find their disadvantages and then study harder to make up. For instance, after I got a poor score in the speaking in my first TOEFL test, I realized my weakness and worked harder in order to elevate my ability in spoken English.

What is more, apart from associated with learning effect, grades (marks) help students to develop a sense of competitive spirit. By encouraging students to improve their grades, the competitive among peers are strengthened. As we all know, in this rapidly-developing world, competition is nearly everywhere. The earlier this habit is raised, the more benefits the students will get when they enter society. Therefore, grades (marks) are beneficial for students in the long term.

To sum up, grades (scores) are of vital importance. They are A fair method of evaluation, touchstone of studying effect and A necessity for a competitive spirit. Sure, grades (mark) cannot be regarded as the only way to assess a student, overall performances of students in school are also significant. However grades are still one of irreplaceable factors to encourage students to learn.

  31. There is a general discussion these days over education in many collages and institutes. One of the questions under debate is whether grades encourage students to learn. From my experience, I believe that to give the same grade to all members who do the same project together cannot evaluate students.
Definitely, grade is a good method to evaluate students. If a student got a good mark, he felt proud of this result, which brought him commendation of his teachers, parents and get admiration from his friends. Consequently, he would try more to get at least the same grade in the next semester. On the other hand/ On the contrary, students with bad score have to pay more in order not to lag behind. Now some schools give their students same grade in one group. What is the difference between getting grade and not getting if everyone gets the same grade? In a word, as grade are a mirror of students’ performance, they motive students learn more.
Research on the education show that grade could let students clearly understand their performance and let them know their advantages and disadvantages. For example, I have a good friend and he always get good grade in math examination no matter the examination is difficult or simple and when he attend in university, he choose math as his major. Days ago he sent me an email and said he has got a lot of prize in mathematic competitions. He told me he was so lucky to choose math as his major. The excellent grade lead him knew that he has advantages on math than other students. Without grades, how could students know what talent they really have? So, grade plays a vital role in students’ study.
Moreover, good grades also give us hope and opportunities of achieving dream. It is possible that a student who get great grade can attend the first-class university for their further study. It will enhance our job and promotion opportunities after graduate from top university especially under our competitive society. The grade as a way to evaluate people’s performance also gives us an equal surrounding to live.
From what have been discussed above, we can safely draw the conclusion that grade encourages students to learn and that to give the same grade to every member is unreasonable.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage student to learn. Use specific reasons and example to support your answer.

Eras of technology nowadays are showing that decreasing of student’s performance regarding learning aspect. Developments of country make them lax to focus in studies. The government have to think the manner to improve the performance of students. It is because they will be a leader in the future. The performances of them should have a good quality to standing same level with others develop countries. I fully support that grades encourage students to learn.

The school or any institutions must have grades to produce the excellent students. The grades will show the quality of student in an institution. The spirit to learn seriously will increase because they want to achieve the target at least the passing mark. From that they will learn to manage themselves to achieve the target.

The parents also can have their own grade to their child in family. It is to encourage them as a child to be focus in their study. If the child get achieve the target, the parent must appreciated their achievement. From that, they will excite to perform better. They also can show their ability smoothly went have fully support from the family.

Having grades in learning process will encourage student to be serious in study. Otherwise, most of student will always be careful in their study to avoid from get fail. From my experience before this, it truly gives good impact to me. Before this, I never failed in any paper but after college increasing the passing mark to 60 per cent from 50 per cent, I had failed one paper because I take it easy. Now and onwards I really careful and serious in my study, I won’t to fail again.

As a conclusion, grades will encourage students to learn. It also helps to produce good quality of new generation. With having a quality of new generation in country, it will bring the country far forward.

  35. Grades or marks are a measure for every examination that students took. It is to show that whether the students have studied the subject enough or never do a revision at all. From the grades, it can help teachers to detect what is wrong with the students and from what aspect that the teachers could help them. Moreover, it also encourages students to learn better.
From what point grades encourage students to learn? We put an example. The passing mark is 60. It is quite high and difficult to achieve. Without enough revision, students surely will not be able to reach the passing mark. Therefore, in order to achieve that, students will be more hardworking because they afraid of getting mark below 60. That is why grades encourage them to put more hard work in study.
Students are more responsible in their studies. They will be train by themselves to achieve the target. They themselves set the target automatically as they do not want to fail. For distinction students, they will put a high grades as their target as they really study hard to achieve the target. It is also show that grades really influence students to put more concentration in study.
By grades, students actually can compete with each other, in a positive manner. It will encourage them by want to achieve more than what their colleagues get. This will make them put more effort in study and not wasting the time just like that. This will make them think, ‘if my friend can achieve such a good grades, why I cannot? I learn the same thing as him/her, and I must get the same result or better than that’. This is the spirit that each and every student should have in their mind.
Moreover, students have more concentration in class during lecture. They will listen carefully the each word the lecturer provoke and take note of it because of the influences of the grades. It will make students think that both lectures and book are important.
Therefore, grades really encourage and motivate students to do well in their studies as the result of not get better grades scare them. It is also show hardworking of students in order to get the better grades.

Whether grades could encourage students to learn has been argued for a while. There are varity of arguments among students and teachers. It is a important topic because it concerns with the method how we educate effectively our students. From my experience, I agree with the idea that grades encourage students to learn.

There is no doubt that every student wants to get excellent marks on their report cards statement . I believe this because grades make the students to work hard; grades help the students to know about their grip on certain courses; and grades help the students to make decisions about their future studies.

It has been argued that marks could make some students stressful,
especially for the students with poor grades. However, as research on the education indicated that grades could let students clearly understand their performance and let them know their advantage and disadvantage. For example, without grades, how could students know what talent they really have? Grades is the indicator of students' ability to master the knowledge.

Moreover, the teacher can clearly master the status of each student study through grades. Every one had talent, but no one had all the talent. By grades, the teacher can understand ach student's talent. For instance, some students may be good at logic thinking, such as mathmatics, physics; the others may like atheletic, such as baseball, tennis. By grades, the teacher can give different advice to different student.
Next, students plan their future field of studies by looking at their grades.

Furthermore, only through grades can parents understand how their child's performance in the study. For example, when I had a poor performance in some courses, my parents always helped me figure out the reason and help me go through it. Each time I went through this difficulty, I had more confidence on my study.

In conclusion, grades can encourge students to learn. It can help students realize their talents and find out their disadvantages. Without grades, how could a student clearly understand themselves?

  38. Based on my life experience, I believed that grades are very good benchmark of knowledge. It act as a yardstick to measure one’s capability in doing something especially when in comes to the aspect of study, this because, it will encourage as well as motivate students to learn.
The first on why I said so is because, grades portrayed students’ knowledge. If a student achieved a high grade on an examination it shows that he or she is actually understands on what have taught. On the other hand, if a student gets a low grade on an exam it means that he does not understand it completely. I personally have this experience when my self get a lower grade on an exam then I expected I know that I could be better prepared for it. So, next time I will pull up my socks to fix my lack of knowledge and do my best on the exam. In this case, low grades motivate me to learn more. I try to analyze my mistakes and avoid them next time. Besides, I try to arrange my daily schedule more effectively. I know exactly my strength, so I focus on the incoming exam. It is like a new target or an obstacle that one should overcome in order to continue my path. When finally I get a higher grade on an exam I can feel a kind satisfaction and I am proud of myself. It is a great feeling. I feel stronger and gets more self-confident. I think these good qualities are essential for a person who wants to achieve their goal and succeed in the future.

The next thing, students have some kind of competition among each other for higher grades. In this matter we can see that grades increase a sense of competitiveness.we usually works hard to get more marks then our friends and classmates. When a student gets a higher grade then another one, the second student will asked himself on what has happened to him. This is because everyone should have the same opportunity to pass the exam with flying colours. With this, I strongly believe that this competition produced by the existence of grading system is healthy and need to be continue in the future.

To conclude this point, I think there is no doubt that grades encourage and attract students to learn, gain more experience, knowledge, be more self-confident and persistent. Moreover, I am sure that these small victories will help students to win and succeed in the future

  39. From my everyday experience and observation I can stand that grades are very good indicators of knowledge. For several reasons that I will mention bellow I believe that grades encourage students to learn.
First of all, grades show students’ knowledge. If a person gets a high grade on an exam it means that he understands that subject very well. It is like a new goal or obstacle that one should overcome in order to continue his path.
Is he better then me? “. I think every student at least one time asked himself this question.
To sup up, I think there is no doubt that grades encourage students to learn, gain more experience, knowledge, be more self-confident and persistent. Moreover, I am sure that these small victories will help students to win and succeed in the future.

  40. Education is one of the most important factors in the development of every country. Therefore, many suggestions have been applied to improve effectively the quality of education and help the students have better scholastic achievements. I believe that grading students is also a good ways to encourage them to learn harder.

For one thing, grading students appears to be the only methods to measure the students' abilities in study. At universities, there are often many students in each class. Thus, the professors can only evaluate them by tests and examinations. Looking into the test marks, students are able to know which subjects they are good at and which subjects they need to improve.

Furthermore, having good grades helps the students to find better jobs in future. If a company looks into the resumes of two students, it is obviously that the student who has better scholastic achievement will receive more attention. Getting higher marks proves that he has an appropriate method to study, or maybe he is more intelligent than the another student. Hence, he works for the company more effectively. Therefore, he may be offered an important position with a higher salary.

Finally, if the students have good grades, they will receive a lot of affection from their parents, their relatives and their acquaintances. A businessman who earns billions of dollars every year, is considered to be successful. A football player who brings his team many goals in a season, has many admires from his fans. Similarly, a student who has better scholastic results, will receive the fondness of other people. He becomes his parents' pride. He will be provided the best conditions to get better education. This is the motive for him to learn harder and harder.

In short, because good marks can give students many advantages in studying at universities, as well as in finding jobs, I strongly agree with the statement that marks are able to encourage them to learn.

  41. In this modern world, it is hard to get a job for living. This is a lesson for us in order to have a bright future; we have to work hard in order to achieve our goals and as students, our responsibility is to get good grades. Getting good grades is hard work because it means that students have to study hard and not all students like to study and there must be a motivating factor; like dangling a carrot. The weak students know that they have to put in extra effort and need guidance and even counselling and in our world that does not happen because the teachers are overloaded with work and cannot spare the time for the student. I believe that even if the student fails, the teacher should sit down with the student and point out how they can get better marks. And for the good students, the teachers should reward the student.
Therefore, to my opinion I do agree with the following statement. My point of view of a student who comes from a wealthy family actually is that they do not have the intention of studying as they get everything what they wanted in life as their family has the resources to cater to their financial demands. Students do badly in their exams as they have personal problem which distract them and they have no one to turn to and give them guidance. When students get poor results or average results and they know that they can do better; they feel ashamed when their classmates do better and this gives them low self esteem and low confidence level.
Moreover, sometimes we think that student with high grades shows the intelligence of the student; and this is not a true scenario as the student may not be using the proper application method. They only know how to vomit back what they have learn by root memory! But everything changes when we step in the higher education. The grading scheme is different and the exam level is more difficult. Therefore, the students will work harder to obtain excellent grades to get awards and make their parents proud of their achievement.
Sometimes it creates pressure on the student to fulfill their parents demand. Parents are proud when their children study hard and get good grades and most parents will compare their children grades as they are so proud of their children’s success and want the whole world to know it!
To sum it up, learning is very important for everyone; young or old as knowledge is the key to success and learning never stops even until the day we die we will be learning something new.

  42. Grades or marks are encouraging students to learn. Grades or marks are measured to define the quality of the students for every examination. From the examination, students have to show their performance and understanding for the subject. From that, this shows whether the students have studied the subject enough or not. Grades can help teachers to detect what aspect that teacher has to help student for example for student that poor in the subject.
From the grading system, we can define standard of the student either good or poor. For example, the new system in the college showed that the passing mark for every subject is 60. From that, the student felt afraid and tried to hard work the make them pass in their exam. That is why grades encourage them to put more hard work in their study. Students are more responsible in their studies. It is also show that grades really influence students to put more concentration in study.
The better grades also influence when student attend the interview for looking the job. Future field of studies are important and it will measured by looking at students grades. For example, for the student that got the better result in the examination, they have more chance to further their studies in their own future field. Grades also encourage students to study in the area in which they feel that they will get good grades in the future.

Grading system also make the healthy competition among the students. Students have some kind of competition among each other for higher grades. This will increase a sense of competitiveness among them to become the best student in the school. We usually work hard to compete and get more marks then our friends and classmates. This competition produced by the existence of grading system is healthy for the student’s future.
Student with high grades shows the intelligence of the student. All parents want their son or daughter to be a best student in the school. Sometimes it creates pressure on the student to fulfill their parents demand. Parents are proud when their children study hard and get good grades.

From this, I can conclude that learning is very important for everyone either for the young or old person. Knowledge is the key to success. So, try our best to make the good grades.

  43. Nowadays student are very competitive among each other. They will fight to the best scorer in grades. And for that, they will learn hard to achieve their aims.

I think grades will never disappear in education.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades ( marks ) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
Nowadays, examination result is the most significant things that will be overlooked by the people. Because of that grades ( marks ) also playing the important role especially in the school. It should be improved and maintained. We also must be realized that today grades ( marks ) always be change day by day. It is occur because our country want their people be an educated person in future. Because of that I agree with the statement “ Grades ( marks ) encourage students to learn “.
When grades ( marks ) become more highest, it make students more serious in their studies. When they feel difficult to achieve the excellent marks, the will triple their effort to attain the marks. It is good right? For example, we can get A if the marks is 80 and above. And today, many students get A in their examination. So, if the grades ( marks ) to get an A is increase to 85 and above, students will increase their effort to attain the marks that will be stated.
For me, as a student nurse in medical line, I will make myself fully understand about grades ( marks ) for subject that I taken. By that ways, easy for me to know how much mark that I must get to get the good or excellent result. And also it will encourages me to struggle in my studies. For example, when I joined nursing, passing marks is more than 50 but today we must get 60 and above to achieve the passing marks. Because of that, we must double our effort to get the best result.
Other than that, if have changes in the grades ( marks ), students can challenge her or his self to get the good marks in the examination. They also can compete with other friends to increase their spirit to studies. It also good for their own future. Because nowadays too many students can get 5A’s in their UPSR examination. Changes in the grades ( marks ) can help students improve their self to become more better.
As a conclusion, we can conclude that grades ( marks ) can encourages students to learn. If the grades ( marks ) in the same level, students don’t have feeling to increase their effort. For me, I strongly agree if have people said that grades ( marks ) encourage students to learn.

  45. Nowadays, all the education system in Malaysia is parallel in each school which is the grade (marks) are same with different school. We can saw that our Government had done a specific examination such as UPSR (Unit Pelajaran Sekolah Rendah), PMR (Penilaian Menengah Rendah), SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) and STPM (Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia).Actually all the big examination will encourage students to learn by using grade (marks) for this examination. With that the mission and vision of our government can achieve completely without any complication and it will build up more intelligent students every year.
I totally agree with that statement that grade can encourage students to learn. The reason is when we get the result from any examination, automatically we look up the marks that we get either achieve your goal or not achieve fully. It is because the grade can define your level of knowledge either you understand or not interesting with that subjects. Other than that, I believe that all students must get the good result in their examination especially for a big examination.
Furthermore, grade can make the students make their effort about examination. For example, they can make sure that they will achieve their target that should get either to get a better result or just for pass the subjects. Actually all the students have their goal for certain examination to make sure they will get their future career. Other than that, they will do the best during examination to get their target for own desire.
In addition, greats can classify your level of knowledge about the subjects that you take for your examination. For example, if someone gets the marks about 80% and above in grade A it will get your feedback that you are understand about the subjects. It will give the image of students that they can success in their life. Moreover, if the person does not achieve their targets they should learn from mistake and the way is they must do the best for the next examination to satisfy their desire.
As a conclusion, all the students must take their initiative to achieve the grade (marks) for any examination either in oral or essays. Other than that, we must learn from mistake to achieve your goal in your next future. Yet, we cannot take a simple thing for certain scenario to get your dreaming become true without any effort. Actually, the purpose our government give the level of knowledge in our examination is to make sure all the students have their targets to achieve the goal in the future for own advantages.

  46. People attend school to learn and the only means to know should the student is learning would be his grades. It is an absolute fact that students get encouraged to do better in their studies mainly because of the grade they get from each subject. So, I firmly agree that marks make the students to strive more to get higher grades; work harder to improve his skills in every subject and lastly, guide them in choosing their future careers.
Firstly, these students aim high to get higher grades. That is, they do their best to excel in all subjects. Say for example, when I was a freshman I forced myself to build a study habit to prepare for the succeeding years of my stay in school. I did a lot of reading and participation in our class discussions. As a result, I hit much more than the passing grade. I was so happy upon receipt of my report card. Moreover, it adds to my enthusiasm to continue my interest in studying my lessons. Therefore, grades could definitely encourage students to continue to do much better.
Secondly, students are able to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses through the mark that they got. They tend to get high grades on those subjects that they like and lower grades on those that they are less interested. As an example, I did not know at first which subject would I like/dislike. However, as the lessons go further I started to realize which among them my favourites are and which are not. When I received my preliminary grades, I was able to know which one I must have to give more attention to. Similarly, I was not that good in math at first in contrast, after I gave more attention to it then I got the highest mark in the final exam. Grades could therefore, assess the students’ abilities.
Lastly, students could be guided by their grades in picking their future career. A successful person has a satisfying work which is his passion. Personally, I never knew what would I want to be when I grow up but not until I reached high school. Further, I was able to identify which course would I want to take in college because of the intense study that I did during my high school years. I discovered that I feel complete whenever I could help somebody in any little way that I could. As a result, I took the course in Bachelor of Science in Social work. And now, I am a successful, contented and happy social worker. Grades could give strong influence to the student’s desire for his life.
In sum, performances of students will most probably depend on the grades that they received. That is why I definitely agree that these grades can make students strive more to get higher grades; work better to improve his weaknesses and last but not least, it show them where to be successful in life

  48. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Being as a student, what matters he/she? Despite this is opening question, however, it is definitely, most of time, related to grades. Some people will consider learning is not just about scores, in contrast with their opinions, I agree with the statement that grades do improve and motivate students to study. There are several reasons to illustrate why I support this point of view.
Firstly, these students aim high to get higher grades. That is, they do their best to excel in all subjects. Say for example, when I was a freshman I forced myself to build a study habit to prepare for the succeeding years of my stay in school. 49. From kindergartens until universities level in our country practices having grades or marks to the students. It is encourage to us to learn by heart regarding the marks and grades? In my opinion, I completely agree that grades or marks are encouraging the student to learn. I have reasons to approve the grades or marks encourage students to learn. To me, it is an important topic because it concerns with the method how we educate effectively our student.

Regard my experiences, why I agree the grades or marks it is important because it prove our own education and knowledge level. From that, we can see whether we as a student having problem regarding our study. Other than that, we can improve our mistake and learn more to get the higher level by study back our weakness.

Secondly, regarding through my experience, before I continue my further study in Diploma in Nursing, I have been a teacher in my old primary school. As a teacher, marks or grades it is very important. From that we can estimate our student level of knowledge and understanding regarding their study. From that, we as a teacher can determine our student weakness and try to take further step to help out our student problem.

Other than that, only through grades or marks can parents understand how their child's performance in the study. Example, regarding my experiences during my school time, when I had a poor performance in some courses, my parents always helped me figure out the reason and help me go through it. Each time I went through this difficulty, I had more confidence on my study. Other than that, my parent tries to push and encourage me to having extra classes, tuition and exercises to improve my weakness.

Lastly, in my conclusion, being a student, good grades really and a lot help to encourage student to learn by heart, but to be successful in life, to be happy let learn and work with the sound of our heart.

  50. Question 14
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Grading inhibits constructive evaluation. Evaluation of student performance is essential, but it should serve to promote student learning. Ideally, the evaluation process would help students discover their weaknesses and ways to improve upon and achieve important goals.
Besides, these days competition has reached to a high extent and it has really become difficult for the faculties to winnow out the students.

Moreover, students work hard to get good grades.
For the conclusion, grading and marking scheme are helping students to learn in order to get the best for their study and work for bright future. It is standardize and student will be judge using the same way.

  51. Grades Encourage Students To Learn

There is no doubt that every student wants to get excellent marks on their report cards. I agree with the statement that grades encourage students to learn. I believe this because grades make the students to work hard, grades help the students to know about their grip on certain courses, and grades help the students to make decisions about their future studies.

First, students work hard to get good grades. Students work harder to improve their weak subjects. When a student gets better scores in a subject, he knows that he has the ability of more improvement in that subject. Therefore, he works harder to reach his goal. For example, in high school, I was not good in the subject of chemistry.

As an example, I used to think that Pharmacology is a very tough subject for me and I am good in the subject of Gerontology, but after looking at my report cards I realized that I am getting good grades in Pharmacology. However, the subject of Gerontology needs more attention of mine.

  52. In the study, many students are very concern about the grades. Actually what is important about the grades? Since we in the primary school we have been introduce to the report card that have state all the result of the examination. From that, our parent can see their children performed at school. Generally, the more A’s their children got, the parent may feel proud of their children.
First of all, grades will show the student knowledge. If the person can score the great grades, it shows that he or she is understood about the subject very well. For those who manage to have a good score especially since in the primary school, this student will able to chose the best school that they want to continue for the secondary. With this opportunity they may choose the best school that have a good quality of teacher and for the better study environment.
Other than that, in my opinion with these grades the teacher can detect which of the student that have a problem in their studying. It is the best thing to detect the problems among the student in their study at the beginning because in the early stage, we can still help them by giving them more attention.
To make sure that all the students manage to get the good grades, the teacher have to work hard also to help their student. By giving them a home works and many practice in school we hope that our country will have not only the good student to score in the exam but also good in whatever activities that carried out for them.
All the parents also have to give full support to their children especially in their study. The good care from the parents and family members also will encourage the student to work hard and have a good result in their exam. For those working parents, what they can do to their children is they can still give their children a tuition class. From that the teacher over there can follow up about the student progress. The working parents still have to give the support and not only depend on the tuition teacher alone. Their children are still their responsibilities.
Last thing to remember is the grades of course can encourage student to learn better. The student itself have to work hard to make sure that they will manage to have it for their future.

Constructive evaluation encourages students to exert maximum effort by emphasizing their strengths, identifying concrete ways for them to improve, and providing them with positive reinforcement for progress. However “Mandatory Grading” may not promote critical thinking and long-term retention.

  54. QUESTION: Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
    ANSWER.
The beautiful grades can encourage students to learn much better. It is to help student to focus for study and make confidence for study. The grades or marks must be detail explanation give to the student to prevent misunderstanding about grades or marks.
One of the reasons that grades encourage students to learn because it can gives them an incentive. Most students will not do things that they find unpleasant or boring to get nothing in return. So in order to get students to do things like memorize the periodic table of elements, read literature, or learn French II vocabulary, teachers’ grade students on how well they do it. When you think about, it is kind of like how little children will try to do well on their spelling test so that they can get a piece of candy. But just giving out candy might not work with older students. So grades are given. For an older student, what grades they get can influence a lot of things: privileges their parents get them, what colleges will accept them, being eligible for sport teams, and more.
Probably in some cases, grading might defeat this purpose by causing
discouragement in some students, who receive below-average grades. Constructive evaluation encourages students to exert maximum effort by emphasizing their strengths, identifying concrete ways for them to improve, and providing them with positive reinforcement for progress. However “Mandatory Grading” may not promote critical thinking and long- term retention. Competitive grading system emphasizes more on judging rather than learning. Assigning competitive grades adversely affects student-teacher relationship by turning teachers into students' enemies that justifies inadequate teaching methods, trivializing course content, encouraging evaluation methods that misdirect and inhibit student learning, and rewarding teachers.
Grading should be fair and inhibit constructive evaluation. Evaluation of student performance is essential, and it should serve to promote student learning. Ideally, the evaluation process would help students to identify their weaknesses and take appropriate ways to improve upon and achievement of important goals.

  55. Grades (marks) encourage students to learn.
In my opinion, I totally agree with that statement grades (marks) encourage students to learn. From my everyday experience and observation I can stand that grades are very good indicators of knowledge. For several reasons that I will mention bellow I believe that grades encourage students to learn.

First of all, grades show students’ knowledge.

Second of all, these days competition has reached to a high extent and it has really become difficult for the faculties to winnow out the students. So the only option they are left with is Grade of a student which serves as a tool to select them for admission to a good and accredited school, college and university. Now in order to improve their grade the only way is to learn, learn and only learn.

To sup up, I think there is no doubt that grades encourage students to learn, gain more experience, knowledge, be more self-confident and persistent. Moreover, I am sure that these small victories will help students to win and succeed in the future.
In my conclusion, good marks can give students many advantages in studying at universities, as well as in finding jobs, I strongly agree with the statement that marks are able to encourage them to learn.

  57. Whether grades could encourage students to learn has been argued for a while. There are a variety of arguments among students and teachers. It is a important topic because it concerns with the method how we educate effectively our students. From my experience, I agree with the idea that grades encourage students to learn.

It has been argued that marks could make some students stressful, especially for the students with poor grades.

By grades, the teacher can understand each student's talent. For instance, some students may be good at logic thinking, such as mathematics, physics; the others may like athletic, such as baseball, tennis. By grades, the teacher can give different advice to different student.

Furthermore, only through grades can parents understand how their child's performance in the study. For example, when I had a poor performance in some courses, my parents always helped me figure out the reason and help me go through it. Each time I went through this difficulty, I had more confidence on my study.

In conclusion, grades can encourage students to learn. It can help students realize their talents and find out their disadvantages. Without grades, how could a student clearly understand themselves?

Grades or marks are the most important for the student to make sure that they pass or not in the examination. In my opinion, I strongly agree with the statement that grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Examination result is the most significant things that will be overlooked by the people. Because of that grades (marks) also playing the important role especially in the school. It should be improved and maintained. We also must be realized that today grades (marks) always be change day by day. It is occur because our country wants their people be an educated person in future.
Nowadays, the government was increased the grades because many student can pass the examination because of old grades. So the government was increased the great so that the student can study more to pass the examination. For an example, in the secondary school, the student need to pass at least 40 percent to make sure that they can pass the exam. In the college or university, the student needs to pass at least 2.0 in the pointer to make sure that they can precede their study. So the student will work hard to make sure that they get the great pointer so that they can precede the study further.
Many brilliant students already had nowadays. So the student wills scramble to get something to make sure that they will be a distinction students. When grades (marks) become highest, it makes students more serious in their studies. When they feel difficult to achieve the excellent marks, the will triple their effort to attain the marks. It is good right? For example, we can get A if the marks is 80 and above. And today, many students get A in their examination. So, if the grades (marks) to get an A are increase to 85 and above, students will increase their effort to attain the marks that will be stated.
As the conclusion, grades actually very important for the student to learn. It is because they will study hard and smart to achieve the higher mark so that they will precede their study. So they will study to achieve that point to make sure that they pass the exam.

  61. I agree with the statement that said Grades (marks) encourage students to learn.I think that, good grades encourage a student to learn more. Given the increasing competitiveness among the students and a desire to excel in future by getting admission to top and renowned schools, colleges and universities, good grade surely is an important criterion and to achieve good grade, a student is encouraged to study hard and learn more.

It is also as an incentive for diligent students who often engage themselves to studying hard to achieve that grade. For example when a student finds his friend to have received a commendable grade and is showered with praise and affections by his teacher, a desperate desire often creates in his subconscious mind. He also unknowingly wants to be like him and acquire the grade his friend has received. In this way, a healthy competition is often developed among all the fellow students who equally want to outshine the other freinds.

In this way, they get to learn more and more things. In fact they often indulge themselves to extensive library works and other reference books and similar items from where they all seek to learn that extra little bit as compared to his friend. Good grades thus indirectly pave the way for the overall learning process of a student and help him to be more sound academically.

These days competition has reached to a high extent and it has really become difficult for the faculties to winnow out the students. So the only option they are left with is Grade of a student which serves as a tool to select them for admission to a good and accredited school, college and university. 62.

Furthermore, having good grades helps the students to find better jobs in future. If a company looks into the resumes of two students, it is obviously that the student who has better scholastic achievement will receive more attention. Getting higher marks proves that he has an appropriate method to study, or maybe he is more intelligent than the other student. Hence, he works for the company more effectively. Therefore, he may be offered an important position with a higher salary.

Finally, if the students have good grades, they will receive a lot of affection from their parents, their relatives and their acquaintances. A businessman, who earns billions of dollars every year, is considered to be successful. A football player who brings his team many goals in a season, has many admires from his fans. Similarly, a student who has better scholastic results will receive the fondness of other people. He becomes his parents' pride. He will be provided the best conditions to get better education. This is the motive for him to learn harder and harder.

In short, because good marks can give students many advantages in studying at universities, as well as in finding jobs, I strongly agree with the statement that marks are able to encourage them to learn.

  63. 14. Grades encourage students to learn.

Marks are meant to evaluate the depth of someone’s knowledge. Most of the students care about them,I did when I was at school. But do grades actually influence our desire to learn? Personally, I believe that they do!

Generally speaking, students are concerned about their grades. In order to achieve higher score a person would try harder. For instance, when I was in elementary school, our teacher came up with the idea of giving a student a star for every excellent mark. We had a special board for those stars in the middle of the classroom, where everybody could see how many stars you have. There even was a competition among us: who gets more stars. I wanted to win so badly, that my parents and siblings have noticed my efforts. As the result, not only did my grades hit the A level, but I also grew exited about what I was studying.

However, low marks can influence a student in the opposite way. Marks are discouraging sometimes. Did you ever have this feeling of being absolutely helpless after getting a low grade, though you have been cramming all night long? Some people are able to find some sort of inspiration in such failures, mobilize themselves and put their best foot forward. But not all of us are so mentally and emotionally strong. A number of students would feel sorry for the lost time and effort, lose all the interest in the subject and give up.

In conclusion, marks do encourage most of us to learn, and one might say that I am a living proof of it. But a student should never forget that the actual goal of learning is not your grades, even the highest ones, but the obtained knowledge.
So grades must being continued because it is so important to make the students to learn and studying more. Then, they will be hardworking and compete with their others friends that are very good among the students.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage student to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Examination is test for student especially where from there use to know level of knowledge of student get from their studies. After finish seat for exam every student will gave a marks for their achievement in their exam and grades to know their ability to answer the exam question as well or not. Grading is important for student because from that their will identify their weakness in their subject and immediately their can improve their weakness.

I am very agreeing with statement, grades or encourage student to learn. For me grades is very important for every student it because student will know their ability and level of knowledge comparing their other friends. From that, their will work hard to achieve a higher mark in their exam later. Through exist grading in exam a student can identify their weakness in certain subject that have their learn in class.

Beside that, the student will exist a feeling to compete among them as to achieve a good marks in every each exam their facing. Other than that, it can make a student to always concentrate in their studies, hardworking to do homework that has given by teacher to them, and clever to using a time and fulfill the time with to find a sources regarding their learning and to become them a more knowledgeable.

In other hand, for who student get low marks in their exam comparing with their friend their will feel sad and after know the grade their will compete to achieve a higher marks with their friend and educate they to work hard a bit to achieve their goal to success and get a good grade. At same time their will improve their mistake and weakness as well to ensure their will not get a low marks against.

  66. This enables the student to work hard, prepare well
for the examination and pass out. This enables student to achieve the goal.
Grading inhibits constructive evaluation. Evaluation of student performance is
essential, but it should serve to promote student learning. Ideally, the
evaluation process would help students discover their weaknesses and ways to
improve upon and achieve important goals.
Probably in some cases, grading might defeat this purpose by causing
discouragement in some students, who receive below-average grades. Constructive
evaluation encourages students to exert maximum effort by emphasizing their
strengths, identifying concrete ways for them to improve, and providing them with
positive reinforcement for progress. However “Mandatory Grading” may not promote
    critical thinking and long-term retention.
Competitive grading system emphasizes more on judging rather than learning. Assigning competitive grades adversely affects student-teacher relationship by turning teachers into students' enemies that justifies inadequate teaching
methods, trivializing course content, encouraging evaluation methods that
misdirect and inhibit student learning, and rewarding teachers.
In nutshell, grading should be fair and inhibit constructive evaluation.
Evaluation of student performance is essential, and it should serve to promote
student learning. Ideally, the evaluation process would help students to identify
their weaknesses and take appropriate ways to improve upon and achievement of
    important goals.

As the student when we had informed about the result, some of us happy and some will crying because of disapponted. How much their mark it is depend on their effort doing study. I agree grades or mark will encourage the student to learn.
Grades will raise their spirit to learn and be successful person. The student will be excited to get high mark in their exam. Firstly, the student have failed in the exam, he very disappointed. He never give up and be more hardworking when learn. After that, he be the one of best student and he very happy and his parent proud of him.
Another equally essential fact is that student's competitive nature, which is inspired by grades (marks), will at the same time stimulate learning more knowledge. Human beings are always longing for winning. The willing to have the highest score in class intimates many students to work harder and harder. During the process of competition, all the students get improvement. Had there not been marks, students would not have such motivation to study.
Last but not least, grades give students a clear goal. Performing better next semester is always written in New Year's resolution, but "better performance" can not be measured without grades. If a student promises to get straight-A next test, he or she knows what does it mean and how much time should be spent on studying in order to reach the goal.
As a conclusion, grades or marks will support them to achieve their successful to go further studies in IPTA or IPTS.

  68. Do marks encourage students to study? The discussion of this issue among individuals and in society as a whole has become debatable during the last decade. Some people declare that students' confidence and interests may get hurt if they get unsatisfying marks in study. However, when it comes to me, grades can give encouragement to students in learning as long as they are treated properly.
First of all, students' grades (marks) are given by a designed testing and scoring system with relatively objective criterions. Helping students know their weakness and advantage by marking is one of the core functions of the system. The high marks show the knowledge which is well grasped, while the low ones reflect some parts you have to improve. Take myself as an example, in my last Toefl Test, the poor score in "Speaking" shown that my oral needed improvement. So practicing speaking became more important in preparation of the test this time. It is the grades that help students know themselves better and make more effort to strengthen their weakness.
Another equally essential fact is that student's competitive nature, which is inspired by grades (marks), will at the same time stimulate learning more knowledge. Human beings are always longing for winning. The willing to have the highest score in class intimates many students to work harder and harder. Taking into account all the aspects shown above, we can safely draw the conclusion that grade is a proper motivation encourages students to learn, for the reason that it helps students know their advantages and disadvantages, that it makes students learn through competing, and that it gives students a clear goal.

  70. Grading is one of the ways that use in schema when marking the examination paper. Grade or mark increasing competitiveness among the students and a desire to excel in future by getting admission to top and renowned schools, colleges and universities, good grade surely is an important criterion and to achieve good grade, a student is encouraged to study hard and learn more.
Students work harder to improve their weak subjects. When a student gets better scores in a subject, he knows that he has the ability of more improvement in that subject. Therefore, he works harder to reach his goal and always will work for improve it. It will encourage working harder and got very good grades.
When a student finds his friend to have received a commendable grade and is showered with praise and affections by his teacher, a desperate desire often creates in his subconscious mind. He will try to study with their friends that had a better results than him to teach him and be better liked his friends.
Healthy competition is often developed among all the fellow students who equally want to outshine the other by ameliorating their respective grades. They will beat their friends result and make it their goal. They will try harder and it encourages them to improve their selves. Now when this grade becomes the decisive factor for a student to get admitted to a school, college or university they long for, they are also left with no other option but to increase their marks and improve their grades.
Student can know where their stand and improve their selves by knowing their grades. If they cannot figure out which subject needs more attention, they can not improve the subject. 71. All school, university, college and other education places has examination in every year. The mark each student will be follow the grade in school, with that we can see the grade of each student and know who can target and who cannot target the subject. In each school will summarize the results and can identified the total of grade and compare with other year.
I agree with the statement grades or marks encourage students to learn more because with grade student can see their result and know what subject their weak. When students see their results and compare with friends, if your grade is lower than them, it can make us to study more and hardworking. After we know the results, students will do more exercise and want higher from their friends. This competition is important to students for build up their feel want to study, also can create situation In study group.
Other than that, when students get result in exam, their result is important to continue study such as want to enter in university, students must get excellent result and suitable with course already choose by them. If grade is low and request the higher course example doctor, it very difficult for student to get in the university. If that happen many students will be force enter to the course which their do not like and it can make student study with playful not serious.
In certain school, teachers will see the student grade and target the student will get better results in examination, for student which not in target will feel sad but their must has feel want to get more better than target student, the grade can make different between in exam which has 4A, 5A or 5B 1A, that’s very different, if student want more A in exam, show the grade to students and show to all students. It can be ease to other student see the grade for exam student, if their grade low, their will feel shy and if grade high, their will proud, so which low grade will be more do hardworking for get better grade.
As the conclusion, the grade is important to student in examination for their study, it can help student to continue their study and easy to get job. Student with high grade will be role model to others student to become like them.

  72. Question 14
Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

There are two main purposes in giving grades to students: First, grades indicate a student's level of understanding and achievement in his or her study, so that the student can advance academically without difficulty. Next, grades also stimulate students to work hard by comparison with their colleagues. However, some people have their doubts whether grades really encourage students to learn more or not. For example, they argue that it is only a few top students that are encouraged to learn more by grades, since only a minority of students are eligible to receive a scholarship or praise for the progress in grades. Nevertheless, I believe grades encourage students in general to learn more.

First, grades are basically records of one's progress in study. So, one can set his or her academic goal, based on the former grade. Then, he or she may study or learn more to break the best record ever, I mean the best grade the person got, like an athlete in the Olympic Games does his or her best, regardless of winning the medal. In other words, every student is more likely to study more, when the student receives his or her grade, for they value their own life and small achievements in school more than other students' scholarship or victory. Moreover, grades notify students of their weaknesses in study, stimulating them to make up for the weak points. And, in the course of making up, students come to learn more naturally.

Thus, I think grades function as an encourager or a stimulus for study.

  73. Essay no 14
Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn.
I without doubt think that good grades encourage a student to learn more. Given the increasing competitiveness among the students and a desire to shine in future by getting admission to top and renowned schools, colleges and universities, good grade surely is an important criterion and to achieve good grade, a student is encouraged to study hard and learn more.
After that, I think that good grade is an incentive for diligent students who often engage themselves to studying hard to achieve that grade. For example when a student finds his friend to have received a commendable grade and is showered with praise and affections by his teacher, a desperate desire often creates in his subconscious mind. He also unknowingly wants to be like him and acquire the grade his friend has received. In this way, a healthy competition is often developed among all the fellow students who equally want to outshine the other by study hard.
More over, student will become do really hard to achieve more than the grade that they get for their semester. As example if in first semester he get on satisfied grade, on the next semester he will target to get more good marks. Without unknowingly, he become more determine to study hard to get excellent result.
Subsequently, student should be exposed on their grade because to measure the level of knowledge and to know whether their learning is effective or not. It is important to realize them where are they level of in the subject teaching. If their grade is not good, sometimes they should learn to face with the failure. But it does not meant the bad grade will deteriorate their spirit to study but it will encourage them to wake up from their long sleep and try to achieved a good grades.
After all, these days competition has reached to a high extent and it has really become difficult for the faculties to winnow out the students.

  74. From my everyday experience and observation I can stand that grades are very good indicators of knowledge. For several reasons that I will mention bellow I believe that grades encourage students to learn.

First of all, grades show students’ knowledge. If a person gets a high grade on an exam it means that he understands that subject very well. It is like a new goal or obstacle that one should overcome in order to continue his path.

Is he better then me? “. I think every student at least one time asked himself this question.

To sup up, I think there is no doubt that grades encourage students to learn, gain more experience, knowledge, be more self-confident and persistent. Moreover, I am sure that these small victories will help students to win and succeed in the future.

  75. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Grades are some kind of measurement of the accomplishment that students obtained in their quiz or examination. In brief, grades can determine students understanding regarding particular subject that they have learned. Students can achieve a higher grades if they know more about the subject while a lower grades can be an indication that the student are weak in the particular subject. However, I still agree that grades can encourage students to learn.
I think, most of the students will be happy to have a high grades in their examination papers. This shows that they have gained sufficient knowledge in the particular subject. As for the teachers, they would be happy too if their students obtained good grades in the subject that they have taught. Same goes to the students’ parents. Good grades can make almost every person happy and that is why I strongly believe that grades do encourage students to learn.
Grades are widely used in every school throughout the world. Achieving good grades are becoming primary objective almost for every student. This is mainly because the benefits that awaiting them if they passed their examination in good grades. Some parents might buy gift for their children that had achieved good grades in the examination and this can encourage their children to learn and maintain their grades in the next examination.
Grades also used by the teachers as a mean to identify the weak students in class. Student with lower grades is obviously weak at particular subject and might need more attention from the teachers. Sometimes, students themselves can be encouraged to learn more when their friends have a better grade compare to their grades. Besides, some student might be motivated to achieved higher grades for being able to qualify a sponsorship.
By looking at their grades, students should know which subject that they need to learn or spend more time on compare to the other subjects. It is not necessary to jump from a low grade to a high grade drastically but small and steady improvements in their grades are good enough. Consistency in their study can be reflected through their grades.
To conclude, grades definitely can encourage students to learn. Thus, students should really understand the grading system and always study smarter to achieve a better grade in every examination.

  76. Schema marking of examination is in education system. Schema marking follow the total of marks and be remarks as A, B, C, D, E, F and else. Grades are a mark given in an exam. Since kindergarten, primary, secondary, and institution already known with the grades for all of type examination in Malaysian.

Best student will get great marks especially grades A for each of subject taking. Around the corner, student will struggle do the revision just only for a great grades. They will show to their parent’s what’s was they effort on it just for successful. I agree because I also have a same attitude. It’s doesn’t mean I’m wrong to have feeling like that, because I just do it for own beneficial.

Grades will knowing student ability or level of their knowledge on that subject. If they got lower grades, D, they will struggle hardest for the next of examination. Truth is feeling of down for the first heard, but if they had a spirit to changed it and learnt by heart to get the real knowledge.

Grades also will make student have a good competition to get the first number in the class by depending the value of grades awarded from the final examination. At the end of year, parents will coming to see the improvement of academic their children by looking the profile of assessing marking.

Grades also will remind student to be aware because of the criteria in sector of institutions or university in Malaysian. To abroad further, all the student needs to pass to enter their institutions. However student can try their level of knowledge by sitting in examination for selected for the second time. It’s a chance for student to gain and improved their knowledge before examination period.

We can concluded that grades are provided in education system for estimate their student ability in education.

  77. In the education system, every student should attend and sitting for the examination. In facts, every examination haves the grades or marks that given by the examiner. I agree that grades encourage students to learn hard in order to achieve their own dream and career for the future life.
Examination marks important to detect the weaknesses of the student itself. With the grades that had shown by the teachers, student could know their own reputation on the paper exam. Besides, it will make them to find and solve the problem by study harder and harder. For example, if the student poor in mathematics subject, the teachers will encourage them to learn and find out the solution to solve the matter.
Then, students could figure out about the capabilities by looking at the grades after the result come out. Grading system important for student as it is to know their own level of knowledge. Besides, they will know which subjects that they should work hard for. Students may not waste their time after looked at the result and learn from teachers what mistakes they had done.
Students also could plan for their own future if the education system has grading percentage for the examination. For examples, students could pursue their studies later and choose the suitable courses by following in which subject they are strong for. If you want to pursue study in medical line, you should have enough strong credit in your Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia especially on science subjects.
Grades also increase the competitive spirit among student and work better. Some of the students fight for the achievement and if 100% students have the spirit for the examination and it will increase the percentage students achieve excellent result towards school.
Parents also may be proud of their own child. Sometimes, it gives a good example to other siblings and they will compete among each other. Without the grade students do not know their level of knowledge and maybe they just playing around and does not bother about their achievement on academics.
To sum up, the grading system should be maintain and grades also support the students in their study and makes the student to choose and figure out about future undertaking by achieve the good grade in the exam.

  78. I am strongly agreed with the statement of grades (marks) encourage students to learn. But there are both the advantages and disadvantages regarding the grades or marking scheme.

For me, grades are the best way to encourage student to keep on study and never give up. Students will put their target to at least reach to border line of the lowest passing marks. They will do their best to achieve it so that they do not have to repeat any failed paper. Beside that, they also don’t want to be embarrassed to their colleagues if they are failed to achieve their target. They will feel embarrass if their classmates pass the paper with flying colours, but not for their selves.

Grades will make student study harder than usual. It also can help teachers assess level of ability of their student. This is because every time after exam, the teachers will grade their student according to their achievement, so that every student will know their ability and compared to other student. This situation may help to build up the students’ spirit and do more to climb up the stairs of excellence.

It also may create a healthy competition among the student, especially during examination period. Everyone will try to challenge each other. Besides that, student also will learn how to manage their study hour. They will know on what subject they need to put an extra attention and they will able to find out their weakness in the studies. Via grading students mark, teachers’ duty will be easier to detect which student need extra guidance and on which part are that student having problems.

As conclusion, grades or as known as marking scheme is needed in encouraging student to learn harder compared to before. At the same time, grades scheme should not be too high especially the border line to pass because it may burden the student to achieve it. It also may put extra pressure to the student which may make their studies become worsen.

  79. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

The grades usually influence student to achieve their target in highest marks by learning’s. The result when come out, student will hope over in passing marks because want to avoid repeat paper and get ugly the result paper with red ink mean have fail paper. I purposely agree with grading system in college or university continue until they have another upgrading system in institution.
However the students will loss interesting in learning’s because they need good memory and has nothing to do with the abilities of understanding and thinking to get highest grade. Most of them spot the question that will come out to the exam and just write whatever they remember to the paper exam. They more like to finish up the assignment because affect the grade. The highest grade they get means they most interesting with the subject but if moderate they just pass the subject.

  81. In my opinion, I agree with that statement, grades or marks encourage student to learn. This is because, marks show student to improve the lesson and make to learn more out standing in certain subject that they takes.

This is because, with that marks they can have more challenging before go further for study. For example, in secondary school, they fight for high marks. And if they can take the challenge from beginner, means that the student can face it in further study. Not only that, we as a student also has a great competition with others. For example, in college, so many students want to be the best one. With great competition, it can make our brain move faster than ever.

Marks also can give clearly on what are we best perform in the subject that we are take. For example, in mathematics if we had high marks that means we understand what being teach. Other than that, we can give full concentrations to improve certain subject. For me, marks can encourage student to learn more. It is because; nowadays we always need a confident to compete with other.

For the solution to give student a good marks, after give talk everyday they can have some quiz at least five question so that, lecture know their student weakness in some topic.

Furthermore, lecturer also need make environment in class better than after such as have more fun and interesting in between class.
To make more fun, in class, lecturer can do together with student to have research in some topic or seek for question in the web. So this can give student more fun and interesting at class. For student, they also can feel more confident to get high marks. For me, as a student this technique makes me alert and don’t feel bored every time have class. Also I feel enjoy and happy got the high marks by helping from this sort of media. Makes learning become fun and every time I feel to learn more.

As a teacher they must observed their student also because from teacher, they know better how they student is. And for the student, they will not being a slow performance student. To have high marks automatically can improve student to learn.

  82. I agree that statement that the grades or marks encourage students to learn. Grades and mark is the stage or degree of rank follow by the result that we get after we answer the paper exam. Grades is to shows us the clever we are or the stupid we are that is the important to us to know the weakness of ourselves.
First, the grades are to shows the level of our knowledge and the many we get the knowledge after we learn it. Grades is to make us to learn more if we know that we in a low grades in our class. So that, if we know that we in a low grades we will learn more to increase our grades to get the higher grade.
Furthermore, the grades make us to know the understanding of the students toward the subject that we studying. If the grades are low level that means the understanding toward the subject is misunderstanding. So that we can know the understanding of the student toward the subject that the teacher is teach. It will makes the teachers knows to whom the concentrated is need to be given follow the subject to increase the grades of their student.
Moreover, the grades make us increase the spirit to us to learn more for increase our level the grades. For example is, if we know that we are in the lower grades of group we will study and learn more to increase our grades. It also will make us to more concentrate in our studying toward the subject that we weak to get the higher level of grades.
Other than that, if we know that we are in the lower grades of our class it will make us want to compete each other in our class. This is the positive way to increase our level of grades. If we compete each other in our class it will make us spent more time to learn to makes us in the higher level of grades.
To sum up, the grades is to shows us the subject that we are interest. The subject that we interest will makes us to increase the level of the grades toward it. Furthermore, it will make us make the decision to continue the learning process in further study.

  83. It is well known that most students care about grades and that nearly all of modern countries take grades as an important role to assess students' performances. I definitely agree that grades (marks) encourage students to learn because grades ensure fairness, examine studying effect and provide an environment of competition.

First, grade-centered evaluation system, although imperfect, provides a just and fair chance for all of the students to get better education. For instance, during annual national collage-entrance examination in China, enormous amount of senior high students take part. No matter which province they are from, what financial situations their families have, each student have the opportunity to enter desirable collages as long as they get higher scores. On the contrary, without exams, many students and their families would lose faith in the university selection process and accuse authorities of corruption.

Secondly, grades (marks) are not only valuable as a kind of criterion, they also help both teachers and students to check up how well they have taught and studied in a certain period. For teachers, they can instruct those students who get poor grades in time and encourage those who get higher ones to accept more challenging tasks. For students, they will find their disadvantages and then study hard to make up.

What is more, apart from associated with learning effect; grades (marks) help students to develop a sense of competitive spirit. By encouraging students improve their grades their competitive capacities among peers are strengthened. As we all know, in this repaid-developing world, competition is nearly in everywhere. The earlier this habit is raised, the more benefits the students will get when they enter the society. Therefore, grades (marks) are beneficial for students in the long run.

To sum up, grades (scores) are of vital importance. They are fair method of evaluation, touchstone of studying effect and necessity for a competitive spirit. Sure, grade (mark) cannot be regarded as the only way to assess a student; overall performances of students in school are also significant. However grades are still one of irreplaceable factors to encourage students to learn.
